The last time I went to Ulta is was for the all the freebies they had in the Allure magazine I wanna say last month. They knew I already had a subscription as I had the magazine w/me but still asked at checkout (as they're supposed to). Obviously I declined any further issues as they weren't needed, and haven't received any sort of unknown extension on my subscription.

Also it's on your receipt if they've signed you up for a trial sub - if you've said no it'll say that you declined the offer. So it's not exactly as if they're hiding it or being super shady about it.

I had InStyle show up too, I assumed it was from a dermstore order, which is how I've ended up with more, us weekly, better homes and gardens, health, fitness, lol I could go on and on. I haven' t found a charge anywhere for any magazine on any of my cards, so I'm a little confused...I better not end up with a bill, though.

It doesn't matter if it's on my receipt - my problem is that I was signed up without even being asked if I wanted to, and I would have said no because I don't read beauty/fashion magazines unless I'm really, REALLY bored at the airport. We're supposed to be given a choice and I was never offered that, and now I have to deal with this headache in the middle of uni midterms. I've also read comments online from people who say they called their local Ulta after being charged and were told that anyone using a credit card and spending over a certain amount is automatically signed up.

That is ridiculous! I spend a lot of money at Ulta (as I'm sure many of us do) and I have always just told them I already am subscribed to the magazines when they ask. It is a half lie, since I do get Allure, but I stopped getting InStyle months ago... I have never had a problem with getting charged (yet). I hope you get that worked out because that is not right at all.
Yup. My money will now be going straight to Walgreens for drugstore brands and Sephora for higher end ones. I stop at Ulta a LOT after uni because there's one right on my way home. Ain't gonna happen anymore. I wish I would've known about this magazine thing beforehand, I would have just always paid in cash to avoid being signed up. But now I'm so annoyed over this I'm not going to go back anytime soon, even with cash. I absolutely cannot stand it when people try to do things behind my back, especially when it's at my expense.

That's weird, then I was going through this, I was dealing with InStyle directly. Maybe things have changed since this happened to me. If you go on their Facebook, I see some people complaining about this happening to them too.
They probably changed it to a third party subscription service because InStyle doesn't even want to "deal" with annoyed Ulta customers.

I've never been snagged by a magazine "offer" before this. It happens to my dad all the time though, he keeps ending up with subscriptions to tech magazines and he can never figure out why or how. I would be going crazy if I were ending up with so many magazines, even more so if I couldn't find the charge because then I'd have to be super paranoid looking for the charge(s), and of course even if you try to cancel they just bounce you from rep to rep until you threaten to report them or just get so pissed you give up.

My point is, it would have been on your receipt and had you looked at your receipt instead of throwing into the bag or purse you might have caught it earlier therefore not be in this dilemma.

But it doesn't matter as you've sworn off Ulta forever and ever. The end.

That being said,I really do hope you get it squared away soon.

Well when you get them from dermstore they show up in your cart, and I want them if I leave them there.

I had a copy of Instyle magazine show up this week too, but I was unconcerned about it until I read the last 2 pages of this thread.  I haven't been billed on any of my cards, but I don't want to be billed either.  So, I looked up the Instyle account and it said it was purchased by Valuemags and to contact them regarding payment information.  I called them and apparently this subscription was purchased on behalf of ELF cosmetics at no charge.  I just placed my first ELF order a couple of weeks ago and now I vaguely recall being asked about a free magazine subscription.  According to Valuemags, they do not have any payment information and Instyle will not renew at the end of my year sub.  Whew.

I have been reading this thread for some time but haven't posted anything, and today I wanted to share!

Kyoku for men has a free month of their subscription program available and my boyfriend received his today!

You get 7 FULL SIZED products and they ship very fast (maybe 3 days).

There is a link on their page that says "free stuff" and you go through and put your email in and make your password. Then it asks for your info, yes you do put your card info in, but that is only to keep it on file for the next box. If you want to continue with monthly boxes you can, but you don't have to. I called their customer service and asked a bunch of questions just to make sure it was completely free and legit (which it is!)

I am going to cancel the monthly subscription because this is so much product ($60 worth) and my boyfriend will not go through it in a month.

has anyone been able to cancel this yet? Haven't ordered yet because I wanted to make sure I could cancel, lol

Got my 100% pure in the mail today- super fast response and shipping! Thanks for the info I'm really excited to try this and love that it's all natural!

Um, actually, I ALWAYS look at my receipt after purchase. Sometimes at Ulta I've even had to ask for my receipt because they've forgotten to give it to me. My mum's drilled it into me since I was a toddler that I have to check to make sure the prices are right. I also match it up with the tally in my head, AND keep it to match up with my CC bill every month even though I remember every purchase I make. I don't check for any 0.5 sized fine print off in some corner that's actually a contract for my soul or whatever that was activated by me simply swiping a card. Even if I had caught it, it would've already been done and I doubt the store associates would have been able to change anything.

I'm due to receive it today. You can actually do it right on the website it seems - when you put your order through you get a link to view your order & check your account. There's a drop-down "Choose Your Action" where you can either add the order to the cart (again) or "Return Products". I'll test it out for sure after I get the Package and update everyone.

Right from their website too just in case people panic as it says "Return Products" as opposed to "Cancel Subscription"

"Oh, did we mention that your first month is completely free? If you don’t look and feel better, just cancel and keep your first month’s free products.  "

Now I'm scared. I just got an issue of in style last week, which I never subscribed to. I haven't been to ulta in a couple mos, and I assumed the in style was from dermstore- which I've gotten all my free subs from.

My point is I'd go ahead and order as I doubt it'd be too hard to cancel, and the promotion may very well end while you're waiting for a definite answer.

I ordered this yesterday and I was a little nervous at first but, if worse comes to worse, I would just reject the charges on my card.

Okay ladies. Got the package and wow it is big! (that's what she said Ha!, sorry couldn't help myself.)

Anyways the products are: 2 sake-infused shave creams @ 6oz each, daily facial cleanser @ 3.4 fl oz, the exfoliating facial scrub @3.4 fl oz, the facial moisturizer @1.7 oz, and 2 razor repair balms @ 1.7 fl oz.

The "Return Products" is actually meant for their regular products not the subscription, so I called and spoke to their CS (not sure why everyone was so insistent on waiting for emails) and the woman I spoke to said that on the 25th day of your trial month (30 days) they send you an email asking if you would like to continue the subscription and instructions on how to go about cancelling.

So long story short make sure they're on your safe list. If it doesn't show up by the 26th morning I'd call them.

Now here are some pictures! ;D

I love a big package! (and I love YOU for going there)

My husband received his kyoku package on Tuesday and so far loves the shaving creme and Razor Repair Balm so much that he may stick with those.  He said that the cleanser has SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulfate) in it so it is not something that he is likely to purchase and the same thing with the moisturizer because it has dyes in it.  He has yet to use the scrub.
