I can only do it on my computer.  My iPad seems to hate this site.

Here is a pic of my beautysage box...couldn't figure out how to insert the pic onto here. Pic.twitter.com/5KiaSAfs

I'd been following this thread for a while but didn't reach out to any companies until yesterday. Thanks everyone for the tips! Here are my results, in case it's useful to anyone:

Shea Terra: I asked for a sample of the rose hips black soap, they responded the same day saying that they'd be willing to send a sample if I paid $2.95 for shipping. I had to call in to give them my CC number (which is kind of a pain), but the lady did say she was going to include a few extra things she thought I'd want to try. I'm really looking forward to it.

Sabon: I asked for a sample of the foot cream, and like a couple of other ladies here mentioned, they said, "We're out of samples but we'll be happy to send you a travel-size instead," which is awesome. However, the e-mail said "a travel-size of one of our products", and not specifically the foot cream, so I am curious what I'm actually going to get. Also responded same-day, within a couple of hours.

Jouer: I told them I'd been given a sample of the luminizing moisture tint in my Birchbox last month, but it was the wrong color (which is true), so I was hoping they'd send me a sample of their two lightest shades so I could figure out which one is right for me. They responded the next day saying they're happy to send me both of them. I didn't get offered the two lip glosses and lip enhancer like everyone else, so I'm curious whether they're going to include anything like that at all, or no. I'm kind of sad, because I was hoping to try one of the glosses, but I was scared of sounding to greedy by asking for that, too.

Caldrea: I asked for a sample of the hand soaps, and they said they're happy to send me "some fragrance samples". Seems like it's a toss-up whether you get hand soap or dish soap? Really would prefer hand soap, but I'm happy to try whatever. Responded same-day.

I haven't heard back from per-fekt or from Sumita, the only other companies I have reached out to at this point.

I have to say, that was super nice of them, but that note looks so super unprofessional for a high end beauty company. Hand written notes are so nice, but at least make them look nice!
I agree. It wouldn't look bad if the words weren't misspelled and then marked over. If someone were to make a mistake, you think they would just rewrite the card. The card I received also had a spelling error that was just marked over. It's one thing to not catch a misspelling, it's another to just try and cover it up marker with more marker..

Sabon told me no, but I bought the foot cream anyway, just from BB since I had a 20% to use.  I LOVE it so next time I'll probably order some other things from Sabon directly.  I got 6 dish soaps and a spot treater from Caldrea.  I really wanted to try their soap, may end up getting it from BB also.  I only asked Jouer for the LMT and got a couple glosses so she may surprise you.  The Shea Terra is totally worth the $2.95!  The jar is 1oz and will last a long time, you can really get a feel for how your skin will react with it.  I've placed 2 orders with them in a week and love every single thing I got, including the samples they've included.

What ever happened to those times when samples were for FREE!! Now we have to pay for them which in my opinion I think that sucks because if youre trying to promote your product, the least thing to do is to let the customers try a 1/4 of a teaspoon of it!

Anyway the most recent samples I got with my purchases was from Sugarpill, they sent me a free loose eyeshadow sample, and from TND Cosmetics (the nail dazzle) the super sweet lady sent me 3 full sized loose mineral eyeshadows plus a full set of nail brushes absolutely FREE!!! I did order 25 cosmetic glitters though :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I'm looking at my mailer that came from Mario Badescu today. From experience, I know the padded (large , white) mailer cost about .50, maybe less bought bulk. Postage is marked and it was $2.30. I got 6 very nice samples . Haven't added up the value, but more than one use each for sure. I also got a large catalog with all of their products and prices listed, and a very nice brochure on How to Take Care of Your Skin, with my particular skin concerns I had mentioned  hand highlighted, with extra tips and notes hand written inside.

It took someone at least 15 minutes to pull the exact samples I requested, address my particular needs, package it all up, and post it. So, wages factored in.

My samples from Per-fekt were postmarked $1.95, again in a padded mailer.

I imagine there are only so many samples like these a  company can afford to send out. And if they are sending samples on a large scale, it would take one dedicated employee just to answer emails and package & post the samples.

I received my Jouer samples two days ago and I love the glosses and moisturizing tint in bronze! I'm so going to get it! The glosses in the set from Birchbox :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

At the price of the shipping- I agree wholeheartedly.

I saw the price of some of the shipping ($1.50-$3) and I felt guilty.

But then again, I remember these are the brands I'll make sure to recommend to friends and buy from in the future so I guess it might be a decent trade off in their minds.

I got my sample from Manna Kadar today, whoever is filling those little jars sure is making a mess! I really like the product though and am considering buying the full size. I also got samples from Juice Beauty, 4 foil packets, 2 cleansing milks and 2 hydrating nutrients. I was happy since I didn't know if they were even sending any.

I guess... it kind of makes sense to pay for mailing, i know i would but i wouldnt really want to pay for a small amount of their product though. The companies can make so much in return if the customer tries and buys the product. I think the smartest way would be for the company to send samples along with the customers order, that way its a win win situation for both.

I agree!!

Okay so, the foil packet set is from Nia24 (I got it last week sometime) it has an 866 Number on it to call (some of you might remember me saying I'd look into it) and you get a *complimentary*  introductory kit -which is the stuff on the lower right hand corner. I called three days ago and it's here today. Awesome! Definitely worth the time to contact them for the foil pack. The number to call is 8666423962.

I also got the supergoop stuff from when they had the request form on fb last week. 2 foil packets NBD.

oh and skindinavia has free shipping + free mini makeup finishing spray up until 9/14.

2oz - $19, 4oz- $29, 8oz- $39 or  you can get the two packs at - 2oz- $35, 4oz- $45, 8oz- $55 either way it's a pretty sweet deal.

Nice! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I'm actually from Albany, which is like 1 1/2 hrs. north of here, but I was born in KCK and most of my family lives in the NKC, Gladstone, Liberty area, and I just moved to Liberty in January.
