Today I rec'd samples from Acura, living proof, ref flower (Italian blood orange - smells so good) and the hubs got from menscience, and Baxter of Cali ( I think I paid $5 for those). These were all emailed on Sunday. As for perfume sample I usually google for them and find Ralph Lauren, Hugo boss, and some others, but anything I find I can usually get a sample from Macy's.

Do you email someone in particular or is there a contact place on the website?
Yes, just on their website. You can request which perfume you like. If you only know 1 you like, they send also 2 other similar ones.

I was thinking about just going to our local Dillard's and Belk and see what they have available for me to bring home.

Finally, as far as separating the "wheat from the chaff" in companies evaluating our request letters, using telepathy or whatever to determine who will actually buy, I don't think that's possible. For me, it took two requests to receive samples from Macadamia (they sent me a set of samples for me AND my daughter, and I asked for one sample), Caudalie, and Murad. For graciousness nothing tops Tocca, who said yes, then enough time passed that I wrote a reminder--their response was to send me a sample of EVERY one of their fragrances, plus a few lotion samples. It was one of the best gifts I've ever received, I was quite moved, and I now consider myself a lifetime customer.
I should have been more clear -   I know they can't tell WHO will buy, but I think/hope that in some cases they can tell an email from a person legitimately interested in products from the "HEY PLEASE SEND ME FREE SAMPLES?" sort...does that make sense? The kind who just see it mentioned somewhere that someone got a sample, saw the word "free" and jumped...they're all over Facebook. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

My Mereadesso, Paula's Choice and DermOrganics samples came today!

mereadesso sent their cleanser and moisturizer as well as a really awesome microfiber washcloth! The moisturizer isn't pictured because unfortunately I set it on the steps before I was ready to go upstairs and it got stepped on (but I did get one use out of what didn't get smooshed out!)

I'm impressed with how generous these are! I'm especially excited to try the hair masque and oil!

I love that Paula's Choice sent 3 of each foil, as well as the booklet. Really excited to try everything!

Oh, yay! I am so excited about them! My skin is having a fit over the last few weeks (I think it's a combination of summer and stress) and I am looking for a completely new skincare routine. I'm having to force myself to try things/lines one by one instead of all at once so I can actually figure out what works. I think I'll be trying out the Paula's Choice stuff over the next week or so!

I just tried the dermorganic skin samples and my face is a glowin'. It says fragrance free but I get a slight hint of something that smells good. Thumbs up from me. Eta: in the summer I get these bumps by my tattoos (i wonder if i have some type of allergy to the ink ) and the hand/body lotion from the sample does a great job of calming the itch and inflammation from the bumps.

Oh totally! I was just so personally disappointed when Macadamia said No to me the first time I asked, like, what the freak did I write to get this rejection! So I wrote them a true story about watching my teenaged daughter ripping out her hair with a hairbrush after she washed it, just pretty much attacking her beautiful hair and destroying it, and they said yes to my second email. I definitely understand saying No to the sample whores of the world (even though I now identify with sample tramps, hehe).

The thing is, in this world of cynicism and consumerism and the Almighty Dollar, I have found it so humanizing to have these complete strangers who owe me nothing send me these incredible products (in tiny, adorable doses) with such generosity and kindness. It seems weird to care so much about skincare and beauty and makeup but I definitely do, so whenever I get a free sample in the mail--just because I asked--it restores my faith in humanity. Now to go wash my face and moisturize! Woot!

I agree! And the enthusiasm and warmth some of the customer service people have had when replying to me to ask about my specific needs, it's really refreshing and nice, and makes me very very likely to buy from those companies in the future!

Especially since trying things is tricky for me - I can't just go into a Sephora without a 2 hour drive, and I live in the middle of nowhere in a super small town. So I really appreciate the companies that recognize that skincare especially is a very individual personal thing, and sending a few samples to someone who is actually taking the time to seek you out and ask will do far more good for the company than harm! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I agree with all of you on here. Samples are the best way to make new, loyal customers. I always have a soft spot for a company that is friendly and takes the time to give me a sample to try. I have an ongoing list of my favorite new finds that I will be purchasing once I am done with all my samples. And most of these companies I have never heard of before this site, but I have fallen in love with a few things. The way I see it, a few dollars on their end is nothing compared to the free advertising they get from word of mouth, reviews on sites like this and just us liking them ourselves. And like some of you said, it goes the other way too. It doesn't take much to put a group of people off a company if they were rude to a potential customer. No reason for that. A simple no would have sufficed, we all have gotten nos before. You would think that they would be excited that their products are getting a lot of attention and use the opportunity to remind us that they have awesome prices. Oh, well. Lesson learned.

Add Ren to the list of companies I will be buying from - they were super generous with me!

I thought this envelope was freakin' adorable!

So excited to try everything!
