I've been using velcro rollers for the past few days, just trying out different styles.

Last night I put the rollers into wet hair, after having used a styling mousse by taft. I left them in overnight, then sprayed them with hairspray this morning before unrolling them.

I've noticed now however that my hair feels funny - just at the top where the hairspray would have been sprayed most. Almost sticky feeling.

What did I do wrong? is it that I used 2 products? or the products don't agree with each other?

I want maximum hold, but I think the hairspray never set properly, so my hair looks greasy

Has anyone else experienced this, or, has anyone got any tips for styling hair with curlers for maximum hold?

It's probably because you have used TOO much product and the hairspray isn't setting properly. Try and spray a little less in and see if that makes a difference.

Just out of curiosity, are you getting any curl out of the velcro rollers, or just volume?

hmmm, mostly volume, although when they first come out of the rollers there are curls.

I AM using fairly large ones though, about the size of a 50 cent piece in diameter. I don't use the smaller ones which give more definite curls.

Definitely sounds like the mix of the 2 products. If you have the time, try putting the curlers in in the morning and blowdry them.

Ya, I don't leave them in over night. And I spray them very little. I blow them dry and then use more product after when styling.

Firstly, I feel your avatar is looking at me and judging me or it's giving me teh seck eyes - which I'm sure is what you give every time you see a starbucks sign.

Secondly, my friend who does hair always says to use bees wax or promade for the hair to curl or style. I never curled my hair before because it's naturally curly, but I would skip one of the products... Mouse makes hair crunchy and hairspray makes it sticky, from my experience.

Try a promade or some cream that styles the hair to use overnight/morning - then use hairspray, not spraying it so close to the hair. It could also be a result of what brand you use too.

hmmm. I will look for this beeswax pomade of which you speak Cellers... were there any brands mentioned?

I find they kind of make my hair greasy, it might be a case of too much product again?

haha of course they are secks eyes for YOU!

She never mentioned a brand - just waved one around my face but I didn't care to ask. But she did her hair nicely and doesn't looked flat or greasy, I guess the trick is the amount you put on it.

I would just use hairspray only... one with no alcohol.
