I really want to warm the brown shade of my hair, I haven't dye my hair for a year and the color you see it's my natural brown but I find it dull and cool brown, and since I'm a warm toned I need my hair to be more warm, I was thinking to try it myself at home, well my mother on me hihi so I need to find the color but I'm sooooo scared I don't know what to choose!

I've heard many times that the red is the key to warm the hair, but from a friend's experience the red is a color that you can't get rid off easy!

Are there any other shades that I can warm my hair, should I go for a red brown? And I've never try a red shade before! What do you think it would look good on me? TIA

I think chestnut brown would look great on you!

You could also go for a Golden Brown if you just want a more subtle red/golden shade.

What about really subtle highlights with a warm toner (like a carmel color)? You could do it yourself really easy with a tipping/frosting cap!

All over color is great but you loose dimension which is what helps to ease the flat color look, plus it's a lot less noticeable when your roots begin to grow out.

I agree! Maybe you shouldn't do it at home though. The highlights come out much more precise and even if you go to a salon and have a professional do it!

^^^Highlights with a frosting cap are so easy though, it's almost impossible to mess it up. And the toner is what gives you the even color and that just goes on over all the hair after the lightening, it's not hard at all!!!!

Highlighting with layers and foils are harder, I would never recommend that someone do that at home unless you know what you're doing, it's pretty hard.

Totally! That is why I said go to a professional! The reason I said no to the frosting cap is because besides it being really 80's, there is plenty of room to mess it up, especially if you are a virgin to the cap method!

No the cap is the easy way!!! And I don't care if "it's 80"s" it works and it's idiot proof! LOL!

Here's my hair about two months ago and recent. I have naturally dirty blonde hair and I use caps and the highest level bleach to lighten it and then toner afterwards.

The cap does work for short hair, but sometimes it pulls and if you have long/thick hair it is a no-go IMO. Good luck, that is a gread idea.

I think a chestnut brown would look really good on you! I color my hair every 4 or 5 weeks at home (to cover all the gray) and my hair is really healthy so don't be scared to do it yourself.

Your color looks fantastic, Gwen! You do a great job and I love the cut and style, too!!

I was checking the shades today in a store and I really liked one that called light chocolate, it was brown with no red and it was somekind of brown with gold undertones! Maybe I'll mix it with another shade too but I don't know what!

Ohhh guys I found a link to the shade I want to do on my hair, but it's a greek site, it's the 7/77 and it's called light chocolate, here's the link( if you click on the number 7/77 you can see at the right the shade on the model's hair), so what do you say????

Your hair looks great! Love both the style and the colour. I can't believe you cut it yourself.

You're too sweet Maja!

it looks great. if you have any hesitations, you can go in a salon and ask what they think. they also know their job, so maybe it'd be easier to let them do the highlight.
