I just had the best color and haircut this weekend I have ever had in my life. I absolutely love it. It is dark brown with black lowlights in the underneath layer and cut to just below my shoulders with edgy layers framing my face and long layers in the back. I also have side-swept bangs. LOVE IT!

So, why do I feel like crying?

As they were washing the color out of my hair, my hair was coming out in clumps. CLUMPS. I have been under SO MUCH stress lately that it's causing my hair to fall out.

Let's see, my sister is having problems with her husband and almost miscarried, my friend at work was in a horrible car wreck and her dog died, my rat just underwent surgery and tore all of her stitches out (still hoping it will heal properly). Everything happened all at once.

I am on vacation right now and I'm trying to keep from stressing so hard. I'm am so afraid that my hair is going to continue coming out. I've been practicing meditation and breathing techniques and I did notice yesterday that my hair has stopped coming out so bad. As I look through my hair though, I do see bald spots. I am only 32, this terrifies me.

I can help you only with your rat:

The stitches won't be an issue - i've performed many surgeries on rats, and sutured them , and even though they always tore the stitches apart, none were with their guts hanging out - their blood coagulates in minutes and they heal REALLY fast

ETA: plus, they have amazing immune system (otherwise, how could they survive on a sewer?)

kristie, i'm so sorry to hear about all the curve balls life seems to be throwing your way these days. my prayer is that all of these things will pass and everything will work together for good in your life, and for your friends and family! please keep up the deep breathing and meditation. these techniques have helped me get through some rough times as well. remember, it's great to be concerned but how can you help others if you make yourself sick? hang in there sister! *hug*hug*hug*

Awww girlie. When it rains it pours, doesn't it?

Sorry about everything, I hope things start looking up for you!!

OMG Lia, you must made me feel SOOOOOO much better, I cannot even tell you. Thank you, honey.

Sorry to hear you're going through such a rough time. Maybe you should take a little time away from your friends and family? Just a couple days to relax and make time for you. It seems like you're a very empathetic person and your loved one's problems are rolling onto you.

Whenever I'm really stressin, I'll take time to be alone, do only want I want for a couple days, and treat myself to something. Reading and writing also helps. Hope things get better soon!

Oh sweetie, I'm sorry about everything and I hope it'll clear up soon and u feel bettter soon!!

Thanks so much, ladies. I really appreciate all of the support.

I'm going to the doctor next week and getting my thyroid tested. I have a feeling I may have hypothyroidism and that is making my hair fall out. I've been reading up on it and have all of the symptoms.

Is your hair in layers or all one length?

Cutting long layers into the hair will help in a few ways:

The hair will be lighter and thinning will be less noticeable.

Plus, the hair loss in clumps can be blended in.

I'm sorry to hear about your sadness. Hope things get better soon.

i'm so sorry to hear that kristie ! i hope it gets better soon. i second the layers, it helps.

I'm so sorry. I went through this not too too long ago with the hair. it may not have been too extreme but it seemed like it to me. I had changed my diet drastically a few months before and I also have hypothyroidism. It did turn out that my TSH was up and along with the too low fat in my diet, I was losing a lot of hair. Thankfully after a month of it, It stopped. I hope everything gets better for you soon!!

AWW hugs first of all! I am so sorry honey...focus on that great haircut!! Second, relax, if it comes out then it will come back too, just try to calm yourself down and let go of some of that stress!

I hope thinks are looking up for you K.

I'm sure your rat will be ok, they're hardy little animals. I'm really sorry to hear you're going through all this drama. Meditation and breathing is really helpful so it definately sounds like you're doing your best to deal with what life has thrown at you.

Maybe post a picture of your new hair to cheer yourself up?

awww Kristie....i'm so sorry hun! Try to relax a little. Besides the meditating and breathing exercises, try a long hot bubble bath maybe candlelit. Try som aromatherapy bubble bath and bath salts. Seems to relax my tense muscles and my tense self
