Usually I use thermasilk in the summer (but they're discontinued?? whoa!! when did that happen!) so I'm looking for a UV protection shampoo and conditioner this summer. Anyone know of some good ones?

10.1 oz

UV Rescue After-Sun Shampoo gently cleanses and removes minerals, chlorine and salt deposits. With Vitamin C and UV filters, this powerful blend helps soothe the scalp, provide UV protection for hair and helps restore moisture. Hair is replenished, re-energized and shiny.

Any more recs, anyone? I'm reluctant to buy Redken because theyre owned by loreal (animal testing)

palm oil is a natural sunblock, but of course if you put too much, it makes your hair looking greasy.

i tried a brand called "le petit marseillais" (it's french, i doubt you have it in the states ?). it's owned by Vendôme, a company who isn't testing on animals. i tried the shampoo for colored hair (it doesn't contains silicones too, l'oréal put some in every bottle of shampoo, sigh). it's a nice shampoo.

it contains avocado oil, and apparently it acts as a natural sunscreen. i suppose it works, though i didn't like much the texture (hard to rinse).

palm oil and avocado oil ingredients. Got it. Maybe I will look for a spray with those as I see the shampoos must be hard to come by. I'm going to add that info to my encyclopedia too

here's what i'd love to try :

HIP holiday spray. it's a sunscreen for hair (protects also the hair from the water, either sea or swimming pool).

so far i've only seen it sold in french sephora.

it's a holistic health product, only made with natural ingredients, which is great. the website is under construction so i don't have much info on it. i read a good review. i didn't bought it because it's expensive (32€ ! about 43US$).

the main ingredients are : babassu (another type of palm oil from Brazil), brazil nut, cypress, lemon and rosemary.

Huh, why didn't I see this in my cp? lol. anyway I don't recall seeing it here but I will remember if I ever do. I wonder how easy it would be for me to get oils and stuff in the philippines. I want to believe it might be easy, but I have no logical reason to say that lol.

Anyway that bottle looks cool, like fallopian tubes

i love the packaging, all the bottles are the same, the color changes.

i guess you can find oils in the philippines, why not? the problem is where, and for how much.

update: i tried the matrix sunscreen spray today since i was/did wander around downtown and its sunny at about 80 degrees right now and it doesnt leave your hair greasy (makes me so so so happy about that) but it does smell like coconut (not a big fan of, but it quickly goes away).

thanks for updating retro violet. I actually just looked matrix up on the caringconsumer list and they are on the "do test" one... so I don't think I want to pick it up

Please tell me if I am mistaken, it says matrix essentials is owned by L'oreal. I googled "matrix essentials" and was sent to the matrix hair product site..

yes, it does, i just checked on the l'oréal french website (and i just learned they also own maybelline and shu uemura :/ ).

i want to try the Frédéric Fekkai, it's called sun bandana. i don't know the compo but i can't afford HIP for now.

There is also an oscar blandi sun shield spray, as well as a phyto phytoplage one. I don't know how much they are compared to the fekkai one but they are not extremely expensive.

Wow they own shu uemura? Good thing I didn't go through with trying their products. I never really was a fan of maybelline anyway.. lol

Someone else told me about kerastase but I didnt know I could get it in the US?? Cool, they have sun protection. If I don't find it here maybe I will have a good chance of finding it overseas
