my hair is in need of a good trim, but because my hair is curly it seems to be many different lengths. the way i've done this in the past is to plait my hair (think little girl pig tails, but all over my head) and then clip the ends. the problem is that i never get them all. how do you ladies with curly hair get around this dilemma? i don't want to have to straighten my hair just to clip the ends, if i can help it.

you should have a profesional cut your hair...

but really curly hair is cut the same as straight hair just with loser tension and than once it is dry you just go back in to make sure it is all even

I agree with Orangeeye, the most important part of cutting curly hair is the after-check. I just cut layers into my daughter's hair (cut beteen 3 and 5 inches off), and it was way easier than I thought it was going to be.

well i just went and did the old school thing and went with the plaits. i cut off about an inch all the way around. it helped quite a bit! i don't have a stylist, but i think i will let my sister flat iron it for me. that way i can make sure i've got all the bad stuff off. thanks for all your advice! it is greatly appreciated!

agree. But for a trim, I straighten it and then trim.

My mom cuts my hair (she went to cosmetology school) and always cuts it when its clean and wet. She takes strands that are about the same thickness as my curls and cuts them at an angle and not straight across. Supposedly it helps the curl be more.......curly? I don't know if that makes sense.

I disagree that you cut curly hair the same as straight.

I cut my own hair. It's hard to explain how. If you do decide in the future to get your hair cut by someone, go to Naturally Curly and look up salon recommendations. Also they have forums that are a wealth of information.
