Hi

Okay, I have hair which is 'just' past my shoulders. I have had hair this length since I can remember and I am getting mighty jarred off with it. God damn it I want it longer.

Each time I go for a 'trim' whether it be in Turkey where I live or in England where I come from, a 'trim' to the hairdressers means 4 INCHES!!!! I tell them and tell them, not to and still I end up back at square one.

So............... bad idea, good idea (probably bad knowing me) but I have decided NOT to have my hair cut at all for about 6 months. I have started trimming tiny tiny ends off where I see it dry and also my fringe I have managed to master. I am doing this in the small hope that my hair will lengthen now.

Has anybody else ever done this and has it worked?

I guess it all depends on how long you want your hair.

I did that for about 8 months when growing out mine, all I did was go and have my bangs trimmed up it was fine.

I ended up cutting about 2 inches off about about 2 months ago and my hair looks great!!

It should look good, get it cut at about two inches or so, if your beautician starts going to far, stop her!

I know how you feel. That used to happen to me too, you go in for a trim, and half your hair feels gone. Be sure to tell them that it's a TRIM not a CUT!

If you're stylist isn't listening to you, you're better of with someone new or on your own. I don't think this is a bad idea just as long as you take care of your hair (deep condition, limit heat styling, trim occasionally, etc). I give you credit, you're much braver than I am!

Oh gosh I HATE when they do that! Once I wanted just a trim and the lady cut off too much and I never went back to her again. Every 6 months or so i go in just to clean up the bottom and let them cut off around 2 inches. No more. I also cut off my split ends myself when Im bored.

Yes, I agree. You have to make sure they know your intentions ar eto let it grow long and specify only a trim..
