Is a $10 tip a good tip if my haircut costs $29?

When I have my hair colored it costs $47 and I give a $10 tip also.

When I get a perm and it costs $68 I give a $12 tip. Should I give more for the perm?

I thought I was tipping generously, but then I was wondering if I'm tipping too little for the perm. I get my hair cut every 4 weeks approximately so I thought I was a good tipper and then I started to wonder if others tip more. What do you think? I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone even if it's bad news.

Thanks in advance

Thanks that is good news, I'm not looking for a compliment, but I want my stylist to know I appreciate her and also to fit me in when I call on a short notice. She is the best I have ever had and I feel a good tipper gets a little more consideration if she is a regular. I was thinking my perm tips were borderline, but you girls have made me feel good.

Thank you ladies

Ha I am soo cheap! for a $25-30 hair cut i tip maybe $3! lol and once i had high lights and low lights done the bill came to $90, and it was soo expensive that i did not tip at all! lol now i feel really bad b/c she is a good hairdresser!

Generally, you tip 15% of the total for your service. My relaxers end up costing me $65, and I tip $10. IMHO, $10 is a lot for a $29 haircut... However, IMHO, you're more on par for the other services and what you tip then.

you know the tip is only good if the person is only getting paid by the hour because your 29.00 is going to the salon not the person cutting your hair now if the person who is cutting your hair rents then that is different because they only spend about 150.00 to 200.00 on a booth weekly so it is something to think about

I tip more if the cut is really good but never as much as $10 unless I go to a student stylist who does an amazing job. I tip 20% usually for a good job and %15 if I hate it (shouldnt tip at all in this case but I feel guilty).
