I have requested a refund from them. The extra item doesn't help since I have unsubscribed, and if the Freeman is also expired, I just prefer a refund and to be done with it.

Well, I wrote to them that we had also been told by Freeman that we should not use the product sent,a nd that I wanted a refund.

This is the response I got:

"Good morning, that information  just is not true, he Freeman product is not expired. We are sorry to lose you.

TLB"

That's it.

See, that's what irked me the first time when they were saying that the Stila wasn't expired and it actually is. It's NOT hard to email or call a company to verify products. With social media sites like Twitter and Facebook getting a hold of a company rep is easier to do now.

In TLB's defense, Freeman Beauty did not verify that the item was expired only that it has been discontinued and that I shouldn't use it as well as clearly stating TLB was not authorized to send out any Freeman Beauty products. It's highly possible the item is indeed expired since the address on the back of the packet is an old address for Freeman Beauty so how long ago did they change their address on their packaging, I don't know for sure but personally I won't take the risk.

I will again state I'm not out to destroy The Look Bag or The Look Store however I firmly believe that because the items are discontinued and expired than if a consumer requests a refund that they (TLB/TLS) should give that consumer a refund. Yes it's going to hit them in their pocketbook but should the consumer be out the money instead? No. The consumer paid for items under the impression that the items were new not discontinued and most certainly not expired. Now that they realize the items ARE not only discontinued or expired then they should do the right thing and issue refunds to those who make that request.

If those who requested refunds are denied a refund you DO have options.

  1. Submit a dispute with your bank or credit/debit card holder. If you used Paypal dispute it with Paypal (call, it's faster to start a claim).
  2. File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. While the FTC won't specifically help you get your money back they can take a report and if enough complaints are issued then investigate further into the matter.
  3. File a complaint with the California Attorney General's office and you can also file one in your state as well.
  4. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. While they will be unable to really do anything but take a complaint and try to contact the company to mediate the problem there really isn't much they can do but warn others.

Well not entirely sure. Yousoldtheworld asked for one and they essentially blew her off.

I sent TLB an email asking for a replacement or a refund. I am willing to give them a second shot to see if they "make up" for it well enough (plus I do think the bag has potential, although now I'm not so sure...). I did not receive a response. So when I got the "Stila Eyeshadow" email I responded to it asking again for a refund or replacement for the whole bag. They completed ignored me about the other products, basically repeating what they said in the first email, that I would get a replacement in November. I asked again about the other items and was told they could "cancel and issue me a refund" or keep my sub for the nov bag and replacement. So I thought what the heck, one more try and told them to send me the nov bag and replacement. A few minutes later my cancel request (from last week mind you) went through. So I told them to either send me the replacement FREE, send me a refund, or give me the nov bag AND replacement for the discounted price I paid for October. All I believe would be fair, considering I threw out most of the October bag. No response yet... but now I'm leaning more towards just a refund and being done with them, this is irritating!

I requested a refund and was offered another bag instead. It was the July bag. I received it yesterday. Does anyone know if there was any issue with the things included? It's Korres lipstick, snowberry cream, 2 mini smelly nail polishes and a BJ perfume sample.

I am confused- you agreed to stay subbed and  they canceled you?

Snowberry is relatively new to the US so THAT should be fine. Is there a date? SPF?

Yes. I had submitted a cancel request through their website on Friday, the day after I sent my first email. I did not hear anything until I replied to the Stila email yesterday. After I agreed to stay subbed I guess my cancel request went through. So I immediately emailed back (using the Stila email they had actually replied to) and asked to either have the replacement sent for free or my refund issued (since they did cancel me) or re-sub me for Nov at the Oct discounted price (TLB discount code). No response since yesterday afternoon

Didn't someone mention this lipstick had an issue with it as well? By then I had cancelled and didn't keep up with what was sent out. All I do know is that Freeman Beauty, Pop Beauty and Stila have all said that they're not working with TLB and in Stila and Freeman Beauty's cases TLB is not authorized to distribute their products. It's highly possible the Korres also came from a 3rd party vendor.

Subscribed one month to TLB before 'retirement';. Got a bag of products I never would use (korres [expired] eye shadow was my one thing I remember along with anti-aging creams at 25) and I decided it didnt have anything to offer From experience with various bags - you're really paying for the name which can get you the products you want. While TLS isnt awful and could have done that (or chosen smaller, less known companies) it seems they took the unsafe route of finding big name brands for cheap and reselling and that's what made it unsavory. Personally, I'm not alright with buying discontinued products because I have the choice of boxes that wont feature that. From a company standpoint I'm surprised they'd sell it, send the email, have issue and other questionable items in the box and then tell customers they cant have a refund. Eh-- overall the service is sketchy, the products are sketchy, and vendors are sketchy, I'd say demand answers or dont front their business.

I canceled and it all went through, they never emailed me to ask why or anything. I'm not expecting a refund though so I never asked, it's not a big deal to me, it was only $9 with the code.

Those lipsticks were discontinued so probably also came from a 3rd party vendor. Same with the Korres eyeshadows that came in the bag before that. I assumed they were recently discontinued, but given the issue with the Stila shadows, who knows.

Well now that we know they're working with a 3rd party vendor how does that make you (those still subscribed or those considering to subscribing) feel about The Look Bag? Would you rather pay $10 to a company that works directly with a manufacturer (such as Ipsy, Beauty Army and Birchbox) or one that doesn't and takes a chance of sending out expired products for $12.95?

I wonder why, though Zadi? They have the Look Store. They work with companies. They should be just like Sample Society- sampling brands they carry. This is just WEIRD.

They seemed shady for so many other reasons that I did not bother to resubscribe, and won't. And personally I would rather get samples to try than full size stuff I may or may not like, so I'll stick with Birchbox and Goodebox.

Doesn't bother me, I'm sure they will check the dates better now.
I am thinking this too lol.

I don't want expired creams or things that could cause health issues, which is what I told them in a polite but honest email. However, just because something may be discontinued doesn't mean I don't enjoy it. Love Ipsy, Beauty Army is ok, but Birchbox blows for me most of the time.

I recieved my replacement today. I was sent a Korres eyeshadow and an Ultra Flesh mascara.
