Honey, makes no difference what color--you are beautiful-your skin looks flawless-and your co-worker is just plan in need of manners. Whatever--wear it well.

woooohoo! good for you! first off i think pale is beautiful if you were born to be so. i have olive skin, so tan works for me, but my friend jen who used to tan has decided within the past year not to bother b/c she likes her skintone. she is a STUNNING porcelaine and i am jealous lol, it is like a victorian panting...and i this " i just painted my face with orange paint" bronzer look...makes me want to vomit

lol but in all honnestly, i like me tanned, i fid when im completly pale, because of my skintone i look sickly, but thats me. and i think momo put it right by saying your genes dictate.

Just wanted to add I see nothing wrong with going outside & doing your normal activities, sports etc & getting abit of sun ..its the just laying there & 'frying' I don't get. We used to do it with just baby oil..ugh

I don't exactly love being pale, I think I look better when the sun hits my face a little, but

and I do get a little jealous when I see a pretty tan girl because she has a nice color to her and I don't. But in 10 years, there's no going back, you can't untan yourself from all those times you wanted to bake yourself to look good.

I can settle with not looking like that now and looking young when I'm 40, so there ya go.

tonight there was just a thing on the news, about a center who reunites kids or teens that can't go out in the sun, because they have that rare genetic disease (xeroderma pigmentosum). when i saw their faces, covered with scars of the cancers they had to fight, i felt lucky i could go out in the sun, and i also don't want to look like them in a few decades.

I feel for you! I too sometimes feel self-conscious about being pale while everybody else is bathing in self-tanners.. I just think it's a trend.. What really catches my attention (in a bad way) is those chicks who go ORANGE.. I'm all for being pale (although I do enjoy a sun bath once in a while)! It does remind me of the victorian era, the princesses in the big fluffy dresses, etc I think it look really classy and can give off a romantic vibe..

That being said, if everybody seems to tell you that you look like a cadaver, you gotta stop and think, are they just hating, or do I have a health problem? Some people will never understand somebody who's different, so their opinion shouldn't matter.. BUT you also have to be reasonable and ask yourself, is it normal that I'm this pale? I know some vegetarians that don't eat right and they're not just naturally pale, they look GREEN, like cadavers! I believe it might have to do with health too... So be reasonable and if you're reasonably pale, then I don't think you have anything to worry about. In that pic you certainly don't look like a cadaver, you look like a normal white girl!

As for foundation shades, I've recently discovered that a lot of Mineral makeup brands have really, really PALE shades available. For example, whenever I used to buy my usual Lancome Teint Idole liquid foundation, or any other liquid foundation for that matter, I usually pick the lightest shade.. and even that sometimes is too dark for me... When I did the same with my Alima foundation purchase, and picked the lightest shade, to my surprise that shade was like paper-white on me! I would have never imagined that I could actually find something so white. Also, if you want to stick with whatever your favorite brand is for foundation, I'd still recommend buying a jar of pale mineral foundation, that way you'll be able to mix it in without a problem! It's pretty cheap too!

There's nothing wrong with a naturally sun kissed look, but it is so important for people of all skin colors to use sunscreen to protect from skin damage, premature aging and skin cancer. People who tan a lot when they're young will have more wrinkles when they're older.

As for pale foundations, try the mineral foundations. You can mix your own colors and experiment with the sample sizes. You'll look much better than mixing L'oreal with that icky stuff from Hot Topic.

You know another reason I don't tan? It seems like it would be a pain to have to have more than one foundation . . .

I like being pale now! Infact I went into a mac store and was told I had perfectly white skin like the blonde Barbie model and well I felt good I must say.

I occasionally go on tanning beds, not to get a tan though, just 3 minutes here and there as I find it can clear up my skin. I own a fake tan aswell - I think I wasted money on it really because I don't use it. It was for my holiday but then really I think I should embrace how I look and learn to work with what I've got rather than try and change it. I love all my pale pink makeup too that goes with my skin tone, wouldn't want to stop wearing those!

I fake bake in the summer and it has aged my skin horribly. I am a NW15 in the winter and and really don't think I am meant to be tan. I have to go at least 4 times a week to build color any less than that and I start to fade. My skin in the last 4 years of fake baking has aged considerably. I have numerous freckles and I think my skin is wrinkling faster. If you are happy with being pale than stay that way. Too many people are caught up with being as tan as they can be. Look at Hollywood. So many overly tan orangy people. I think now that my tanning minutes are finished I am going to go back to being my pale self.

It is one of the current beauty standards, in victorian times the fashion was all about paleness, because the people who had to do the hard labor outside all day were tanned

Being pale was a sign of class, because they could afford to not do any work.

Today being tanned is a sign that you have the finance to either go on vacations to paradisal resorts where you can lay out in the sun all day or invest in tanning. It's just a fashionable thing.

I like being pale, but I am sure I will get a tan in the upcoming year as I'll spend alot of time in warmer places once my love and I get together again, and he just LOVES the sun and the beach, and I do love it with him

It's great you are not a sheep and prone to peer-pressure, be proud

I am pale, too...and really do not give a flying f*ck. I can look just as glowy and good as a tanned girl...this is why blush and bronzer are in the stores. My grandma was fair like me, aged AMAZINGLY (no wrinkles by age 57) and I can imagine I will be similar. I like knowing that I will still look young while some of my peers will either be lookin' really old, or they may possibly be sick from all that fake bake.

ha, funny thing is this summer i have gotten a lil tan from going to beach and pool and havent wore much foundation at all and have gotten more compliments on how great my skin looks compared to the few years i hid from the sun, but i do use spf 50 when im out all day so i dont burn or get too dark. im not really into sunbathing but i do like being out doors in the summer. i also dont like super dark tans, sun kissed not burnt

GO GIRL!!! I totally feel your pain. We're not pale, we're fair-skinned.

Even my OWN MOM told me to use LESS SPF in my sunblock because my legs were "too pale" and then bought me a sunless tanner. Well, twenty years from now when all of our friends are wrinkly and leathered looking, we'll still be HOT!!!! I think people are just jealous that we're not as shallow or insecure about ourselves. IT"S JUST SKIN, PEOPLE!!! There are better things to worry about!

ughh i hate this whole tan vs pale thing. everyone i know has gone into this thing, including my grandpa who has had skin cancer, he wears bronzer now. and its so annoying, i get told i look like im sick every summer just because i dont want to bake myself for two hours on the roof of my garage. UGH!

I'm very pale and usually apply self-tanner once a wekk or so just so I have some color. I'm not a fan of the dark tan look on myself but it does suit some girls. I just think I look sickly without some color. Some women look beautiful with porcelin skin!

I am pale and i like it. I don't mind others being tanned. I just think it looks funny when it's obviously fake.. You know some people just don't look right with tans.
