I used to tan but, lately i've been looking for other alternatives. I tried the mystic tan and actually it came out great, so I think I'll be opting for that instead of the actual UV rays, now.. hearing all of these horror stories. It's amaizing how many people get skin cancer later on down the road because of tanning beds.. very scary.

I never even tan, I don't tan when I'm in the sun :| I just burn like mad (I'm pale). My mum use to use sunbeds for years but she hasn't in a while but she dosen't look too wrinkley and shes nearly 40 :kopfkratz: . x

Well if you want your skin to age quicker and increase your risk of skin cancer, go ahead and use the tanning beds. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> But if you want to avoid signs of aging and minimize your risk of cancer (melanoma is a BAD, BAD thing!!!), then use your sunscreen everyday and use self tanners for some color.

I use the L'Oreal self tanning towelettes and LOVE it, no streaks, nice golden natural color. Go for it! :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I use to tan atleast 3-5x a week last summer. Of course it was wonderful being dark and having a nice tan, but its also very expensive to maintain. Plus I'd end up waiting 25-30 mins for a tanning bed and it usually took a good hour to 1.5. It was too hard to keep up w/ college and everything else. I will possibly tan for my wedding, but thats about it. I just want to protect my skin and not aide the wrinkling process :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I only do one course of sunbeds per year which is the recommended amount if you do use tanning beds. I don't really do it for a tan just to perk up my skin a little as I look dead without any colour! It does help your body produce Vitamin D too but I do believe you have to be very careful about how much exposure you have. I try not to have much exposure as I don't want any wrinkles any time soon! lol! I also only go on after I've been on holiday and my skin is used to the exposure that way I won't burn. I think it's more dangerous if you burn yourself as that can increase the cancer risk

whether you burn or tan, how many times you go doesnt matter, it only takes a few times to get skin cancer, and any kind of color you have is damage, they had a 14 yr old girl on the today show the other day who had skin cancer and she had to have it removed, well as she got older her scar grew and it was huge, all i use is self tanners and i love them, they do take practice but now ppl cant even tell the difference on me and compliment me on it

As a girl born and raised in Cali, it has been very easy to maintain a tan from the outdoors. As I got into my 20's, time was very valuable and I opted to tan in beds. Although I did do it for many years, I now realize how harmful and dangerous the tanning beds are.

I am now a Mysic Tan girl and no one can ever tell its a spray on tan. Look at the pick on my avatar, all mystic!

Well going once a week is sure healthier then going 4 times a week, that's for sure! I use to go like 2 or 3 times a week a couple years back, now sometimes (rarely even) i'll go once every 2 or 3 weeks only in the winter. My tans last a long time though, i have tan lines from the summer still.

I used to go to the tanning salon... I quit over the last two years though due to fear of getting skin cancer, even if I am in the least likely category for it. I'm already cancer-prone, so why add to it?

I havent used the sun beds in over 2 years. I used to use them evey summer about twice a week, as i would be wearing small tops and skirts and putting tan on so often was just annoying!!

Now i just have to grin and bear the fake tan process. the queues for the beds now put me off also the risk of skin cancer and wrinkles!! Im constantly using anti-wrinkle creams so why out-do the effects???

I love the Mystic Tan. I`ve tried it 2 times, and it turned out great for me. Just make sure you cover your feet with the wrap or else it will turn your nail kind of yellow.

sure they are bad. Any form of exposure to sunlight, real or artificial is bad. UVA are the gaing rays that breakdown the production of collagen in your skin. This in turn causes brown spots, deep wrinkles and the worst sagging. UVB are the burning rays that also cause skin cancer. Individuals with fair skin are more succeptible to getting skin cancer because it targets fair skinned individuals. Believe me I think you'd rather look great at age thirty with no wrinkles because of sun damage rather than looking like your ten years older. Stay out of the sun. Wear at least spf 15 in your make-up or moisturizer everyday. Your skin will thank you. A tan is not everything. And having one all year round looks fake.

I didn't start using tanning beds until my Junior year of High School. I used them 3x a week year round. I'm now a sophomore in college and I have had two "suspicious" moles removed that might have possibly been skin cancer. I haven't tanned in forever and I will probably never tan again.

I use two sunless tanners. The Tan Towel and Sun Labs Dark Sunsation! They work better than the tanning bed.

as much as I love the look of a tan and the sun, I love my skin too much too put it through any damage. I'm so religious about putting sunscreen on in the summer when I am out or go on vacation. One of my friends, same age as me (34) goes about 2x a week, if you look at her, yeah she's brown, but yeah she looks like she's 50... her face is just damn awful.. just seeing her face like that and the wrinkly part scares the hell out of me. No thanks..

Just because you tan doesn't mean you're automatically going to end up with skin cancer. But, it's still really not worth the chance.

I'll go every once in a while like around prom to even out my tan lines, and in the winter to start building up a tan so I won't burn during the summer.

I'm in a marching band so I end up with odd tan lines everywhere during the summer then when prom rolls around...ew I look so funny, so I tan.
