Okay, just about every article about curly hair that I've read in various magazines tell me to put styling lotion in my hair, and they always name off an expensive brand that I'll never be able to buy. I'm wondering what exactly is styling lotion? Is it the same thing as styling milk?

But what I really want to know is: Is there a styling lotion for curly/wavy hair that I can pick up at a drugstore without breaking my pocket?

hair texture may be an issue in the case (i'm african american), but i love john frieda's secret weapon. i use it on wet hair and it smooths the texture and enhances the curl. definitely one of my hg hair products!

I don't have curly hair but I use a few of Garnier Fructis' hair products. I really like the way their products smell and work on my hair. They have a few specifically for curly/wavy hair. You might try Garnier Fructis Style Curl Shaping Spray. I think it cost around $4.00.

monnieej: I actually have Secret Weapon, but I never thought of using it as my base styler.. I've only been using it as a 'finisher'! I'm gonna try using it to style when my hair is wet now, thanks! =D

katnahat: I know, I love Garnier's smell! I've tried just about ALL of their products for curly hair, just not that spray-gel. For all I know that could be my HG! One day I'm gonna have to break down and buy it.

I use sunsilk, but now they are saying that you're supposed to use their products first, then follow with your normal styling product! I love how smooth their frizz creme stuff works on my hair -- it makes it so soft and smooth, but it doesnt have lasting power..
