..is ruining my life haha! .. a little dramatic but static cling is really annoying me.. anyone have any good ideas? My hair is def. dry so that is the root of the problem and now the cold weather adds to that..

Any advice would be great!

im not sure what u mean by static cling, but if it what im thinking is it hair sticking up? lol little pieces of my hair at the top sticks up when im done flat ironing it i just put frizz or fly away serum on it.

My hair tends to get full of static in the drier months since I've moved to New York. I haven't found a real solution to it aside from running a drier sheet over my hair, as well as my comb & brush. However, I have to do it everytime I comb/brush my hair

Also using moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, especially if your hair is dry.

static guard? I've never heard of that, I will definitely look for something this winter, every winter my hair gets full of static, even my body, I cannot touch metals or you'll see sparkles coming out, it's like getting electrocuted.

arghh. recently I've been getting static-y hair!!

I've never had this problem before... It's so odd.

but, thanks I'll definitely try spraying static guard on my brush.

I have this prob every winter. try spraying your brush with hairspray then brushing your hair. Staitc hair is a sign of overly dry hair, so switch to deep moisturizing conditioners. Also if you blowdry or flat iron your hair, smooth some finishing creme on after (i use brilliant brunette).

I had this problem & tried the drier sheet with no apparant effect so found 2 things helped;

1) keep your hair moisturised - I condition every time I wash it.

2) Try a different comb / brush. I think it can depend on the type of plastic it's made of as to how charged it can make your hair. I used to comb, now I use a paddle brush & it's helped a lot.

One other thing that can make hair look more static is split ends as the hair will splay out at the bottom even if not static, so make sure it's cut & the ends are good.

Good luck!

Static Guard you can get at walmart or most any store. It is in a blue/orange can. It also works on clothes. If you want a Deep conditioner, I was told by the salon to buy a tub of Hair cholesterol and put it on your hair after washing it. Then put a shower cap on while you do whatever you need to do around the house. This helps my hair a lot. It also helps damaged hair which is what i've got.

I also do the hair cholesterol conditioning while I clean the house. If you don't have a shower cap, you may use a Wal-mart or garbage bag. Works great!

Is there anything you can do to get rid of static in brushes and combs?

I hate the "static problem" in the winter. I dread opening my car door because I know I'm in for a shock. Wonder if it would help to hold a "bounce sheet" in hand while opening the door

It's proven that you need to give your hair three times the moisture in winter months than you do the rest of the year. Moisture comes in many natural forms. OIl is not moisture. Humectants are moisture, water, honey, glycerin. Try adding honey to either your shampoo or conditioner or both. Clear aloe vera gel is a natural 'smoother' , especially to those who still fry their hair with flat irons. Glycerin, added to conditioner, in small amounts, like 2-3 drops not only works wonders for moisture, it also helps promote shine. Using a daily spritzer of natural products is the best thing to help with static.

4 ounces distilled water

4-6 drops of jojoba oil, or coconut, sweet almond, emu

1 tiny squirt of your favorite conditiner

a few drops of your favorite Essential EO, mine is peppermint

Shake well before spritzing. This can also be used right after washing, helps with tangles.

Also try a dab of condtioner with a drop of oil for those parched ends. Especially after washing.

If your hair is long, try wearing it in some cute up-do's more often. The hair hanging down and rubbing on clothing and such, is a big factor in producing static.
