i'm trying to grow out my hair, and i have been using tresemme anti-breakage shampoo and doing scalp massages everyday, which seems to help. but i was just wondering if there is anything i can do to mend split ends/keep them from going up the hair shaft? (besides cutting!!)

not really...

Once they start, your only option is a trim for totally getting rid of them. Shwartzkopf makes a split end mender... as do some other companies, but that is just a temporary fix to smooth ends. It really doen't get rid of them for good.

I'm growing my hair out too and my hair is damaged at the ends (from straightening which I dont hardley do now). I've found useing pure jojoba oil mixed with my shampoo keeps my hair looking healthy. Once my hair is at a reasonble length (its still just about my shoulders

) I'll have it trimmed.

a trim is good for u anyways .. .even if u don't have a lot of split ends ...

the last time i got a trim the lady took like 3 inches off.

ever since i just decided i wasn't cutting it until i got it to the length i wanted.

I'm guilty of not getting my ends cut enough. I never had a split end problem til recently. My hair is to my waist now and I always let it naturally dry, so it must be the brushing that's the culprit, but I'm making an appt next week. My hairdresser is finally opening her own shop. Yay!!!!

You could try oiling it. Pour a TINY amount of olive oil into palm of your hand, rub your hands together and then rub them through your hair -but ONLY at the ends, stay away from the roots.
