Should I get a new haircut?

Please help me decide- I am getting bored with this look, it has been basically the same for the last 10 years. It is naturally a little wavy like this picture, but I usually comb it out and it dries fairly straight with just a little wave. I had a chi to straighten it but my hair is fine and I don't think it looks very good completely straight. I currently color it just a little lighter than my natual shade. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Your hair looks quite nice and healthy, but it is really long.

If you cut off 8 inches and had layers, you would still have a lot of lenght but it would be more versatile to work with.

Have you had bangs before? Did you like them?

Your hair is quite dark around your face - have you thought about getting highlights around your face?

Dragonfly- thanks so much for your feedback! I have had bangs before, always when I was younger in fact. The problem was that when my hair is shorter it gets even more curly, especially around my face for some reason I had a very hard time keeping the bangs straight, any humidity or anything would curl and frizz them right up- it drove me crazy. So I don't know? I have never had highlights around my face but I do like the idea! Do you think a shorter cut would look better on my shape of face?

I definitely like the highlights around the face idea--that would really brighten up your pretty face!

Maybe bangs aren't the way to go. I have bangs and they behave just as yours do when the heat and humidity set. Plus, you have a very pretty face so you don't want to cover it up.

Just my opinion but if hair is too long, it detracts from the focal point, which is the face.

If you brought you length up a few inches, had some long nice layers put in to frame your face, and added strategically placed highlights, I think it might be the change you are looking for.

I really like the idea of highlights, and it is something I had never really thought of. If I do the layers, how should I ask for them when I get my hair cut? For some reason I thought that layers only look good on people who have thicker hair.

Maybe start a new thread, asking hairdressers specific questions about a cut.

Hair ego is a hairdresser and her knowledge is fabulous.

Because your hair isn't that thick, it may just be a matter of using a different hair product - just a guess.

If I had hair like yours I would cut off about 4" and ask for long layers and then get partial dimensional highlites. YOu have really nice hair.

I really like your hair, but IMO it would look nice if you asked for thinner hair on the bottom, and more layers and volume on the top. That would definitely bring your pretty face out!

I also like the idea of highlights on top.
