I went in for highlights and now my scalp is very sensitive. It even burns when I spray hairspray on it. What can I do for this? It sometimes even hurts when I lay down like if my hair gets pressed against my scalp. This has never happened to me before and I would love any suggestions.

Have you contacted the salon and let them know about this? They might know what will make your scalp feel better.

I would stay away from any styling products that contain alcohol - that might make your head feel worse.

Next time, don't wash your hair the day of the coloring. I know this sounds weird, but if you aggravate your scalp (especially if you scrub with your nails) the coloring has a greater chance of causing irritation.

For now, call the salon and let them know what happened. Take some over-the-counter Benadryl for the next day (be sure to read the label fully). If that doesn't work, see your doctor.

I agree with the above comments... You should contact the salon so that they can give you the right advice on what you can or cannot use... They should offer you a free scalp treatment if this is what you need...

If they ask you contact your doctor then it might be a good idea to ask for some leaflet stating all the ingredients in hair colour that was used on you...
