My hair is naturally a medium to dark ashy blonde. I have been coloring my hair with a semi perm color for several months. The color was called "medium ash brown" and it came out like a dark brunette. I loved the color so continued coloring about every 6 weeks. But, the upkeep is killing me and the lighter roots are looking horrible! It is now about 5 weeks since I've colored and my roots are dark blonde and the rest of my hair is still a medium brunette. I just want my natural color back! Is it normal for it to take a long time for it to fade completely out? Can I add highlights in over the semi perm color so my roots are not so noticeable? Or add a dark blonde color over it? I have been trying hot oil treatments and clarifying shampoos in hopes that the color will fade but my roots just keep getting lighter and the hair color is SLOOOOWLLY not going anywhere! What can I do here, what are my options? Thanks soooo much!
