ok i really want to get extensions, and it seems like the best method is to sew them in, but isnt that really expensive? i want to do them myself since i usually cut and color my hair myself. it seems like glueing them in would be easier to do at home, but im really concerned about damaging my hair. is there a way to glue them in without the damage afterwards? or maybe i should just buy clip-ins.. anyone use these? is it something that i could wear every day or more like special occassions? and how well do they stay in, can you tell you are wearing clipins??? sorry so many questions. Thx in advance!!!

they call the glueing technique bonding and it will take your hair right out of your head! the adhesive can also clog your hair follicles and promote permanent hair loss. i would suggest going to a pro for the sew in process. clip ins would be a much safer bet if you plan on doing it yourself. good luck and be careful!

where would i find clipins? can i get them at sallys? or would i need to get the hair and clips separately there?

I went to a pro to get extensions sewn in a while ago, it itched like crazy and my scalp got kind of irritated from the braids/weave being too tight. So... needless to say I took them out within a few weeks. I'd go with the clip-ins, much less permanent and not bothersome. What about that Jessica Simpson/Ken Paves "Hair-do" thing?

Clip ins are safe to use, But I glue hair in when I do it. I guess I am a daredevil or something! I have never lost a strand of hair due to glue.

clip ins they sell them at sallys......

the glue is better cause it stays longer clips i think will come out easy...my sister in law did the glue ones....you dont glue it to your scalp...you put it on the root of your hair....it didnt damage her hair or anything.....but after you take them out the glue is a b***h to take out.....that gets stuck and ikyy...

Soid suggest the clip ins thats what i want to do too...

I agree the glue makes washing your hair a nightmare, I have the bonded ones just now which are brilliant for the first 2 months or so but when your hair starts to grow the bond ends up halfway down your hair and you spend all your time trying to cover it up. i'd go with clip-ins unless you want something permanent then I'd go with the bonds as long as you can afford the upkeep.

Sew in extensions are best IMO. Yes they are expensive, but the amount of hair you will save is worth it. Bonding (glueing the weft or strands to the hair) weights the hair down and the chemicals in the glue can erode the hair. Clips in are cheaper, but you have to tease your hair to get it to stay in and and the clips can cause breakage.

i have extensions.!. i have the sew-in kind n have been doin extensions 4 the past 2 years. my hair is fine

I have mine glued in. I haven't had any real trouble with mine. I haven't lost any hair because of them. I just touch the glue up about once a week because the bond can start to come loose due to washing the extensions. I have had mine in for about 5 or 6 weeks.

CLip ins are great. Or even Micro rings. I like clip ins since i can pull them out when I get back home. You really odtn see them. With some practice you'll be able to find the perfect place you can put them. There are some websites out there that show you where you should apply them.

ETA: the clips dont cause breakage. Their like barrets you pop them open and pop them shut.

Clip-ins are best for DIY. You do not have to tease the hair to make them stay in, and they cause no more breakage than any other clip that you would put in your hair. They are not noticable at all, and are super easy to use. We do sell that at Sally's and we also sell hair on tracks that you can sew you own clips to (like you mentioned) and that is a cheaper option. If you have any ?s get in touch with me

clip ins, i made them myself much much cheaper than buying them or having them put it. and u can take them out one day long one day short.

yeah dont do it yourself my cousin did hers herself and she was left with a ball of glue and hair the size of a baseball luckily she is dating a hair dresser and he got it all out for her. She now has the jessica simpson clip in extensions and she loves them! I would deff try the clip ins!!

clip in ones are safest as they do minimal damage to your hair...or if you can stand the pain then try the weaving techinque 1..try and avoid using the glue 1 it seriously damages your hair

my mum has had everything u can think of put in hair. the bonding(glueing) rips the hair, u could get it plaited in, but doesnt last long, u can get clips but depending on the hair eg they still not reliable and can see them when hair is up, u could also try beading but the feel as if u have nits in ur hair.

My mum swears by the weaves!!! easy to manage and are cheap as!!! she just got hers done again, as u have to get it done every 6 months. and hers looks great cant tell she has them in!!! they cost her roughly 300 for most of her hair she has to go back and get lighter ones in due to her highlights!!! but look way cool!!!

There is nothing wrong with glue, bonding or fusion extensions. I have taken classes on all of these styles and as long as they are done professionally, or by someone who has had classes (like myself) then there should be NO problem. Doing them yourself is another story, because you can severly damage your hair if you have never done it before, you could even glue your scalp, which is NOT fun.

But yeah, I have had glued/bonded/fusion extensions for 2 years. I do them myself and I have never once had a problem, my hair isn't falling out and I haven't had to cut off half my hair because of them either. All you have to do is be careful and ask yourself "If this goes wrong, can I really part with the hair I have now?"

:D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> PLEASE be careful!

go with the clips ins!! i love them and they are so safe to use! I got mine from like a chinese beauty supply place, they didn't have anything like that at Sally's when i checked it out.
