I am thinking about using my Christmas money on a high-end flat iron this year, since my drugstore flat iron only works when it's not humid (which is about one month in the winter around here, lol). However, I've heard that Chi flat irons have a tendency to break right after the two-year warranty ends. For those of you who have a high end flat iron of any brand (Chi, Sedu, etc.), how long have you had it, and have you had any problems with it?

Thanks!

I have the newest version from Tourmaline Cricket, it was $100. I haven't had it long(2-3months) and I am liking it alot! High end is definetly better for your hair, because it doesn't produce as much damage.

I've had mine for three years and I share it with my sister at times. Its probably used 3 to 4 times a week and it works great! I paid $150 when I bought it three years ago and IMO, it was a great investment. I just make sure that I clean it frequently and also don't use the highest setting that often.

Hm, I don't know what brand I have, but I got it from Trade Secret a couple years ago and it's ceramic. It was a fairly good price ($35) and it's still going strong, so I guess I'll say try whatever Trade Secret has.

I have a CHI Flat Iron. I have had my CHI for about 2 years now. It is still going strong and works great. It was worth the $135 I paid for it. It only has one setting though, so you usually do not need to go over a section more than 2 or 3 times. I use it with BioSilk and it leaves me with silky, shiney hair!

ditto, i've had the CHI for @ least 2 years now (prolly more) and it's still working great for me.

I'm also buying a new flat iron soon and I'm really looking into a Solia. They've got pretty great reviews on MUA and Folica.com, and they're on for a great price at Folica.com too!

I've had my Ultra CHI since the summer... worked great during the hot and humid months, and is still going strong. I mainly only use it if I'm going somewhere (most days I've become lazy and just throw it up in a pony as is) But I love it.. and if it broke after 2 years, I'd still probably buy another one. ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> lol

I SO need to invest in a flat-iron, so this is a great thread! Keep the responses coming ladies!

I've had a babyliss flat iron for 3 years and works like a charm, also got it it at trade secrets during a sale and received 10% off around christmas :rockwoot:
