My boyfriend wants me to put blue streaks in his hair, which i think would look AWESOME lol, but i'm not sure like HOW to do it. His hair is a little short, like about an inch and a half long, and it's really dark brown, like almost black. So how do i go about this? Any tips/pointers/instructions would be great!

we-ell... you aren't going to get a result unless you lighten some sections of hair first. But I would be concerned about doing that at home - you never know what result you'd end up with!

Im no hair expert so I might leave it to them to give you some better pointers. Good luck! (could you post pics? I'd love to see the end result

if the bf would let me haha i'd love to show y'all!

but i was thinking like just a few blue streaks in the front, and he'd just spike it up. i think that would look really good. i think all over would look odd with his hair so short

oh i forgot to mention that i'm doing this today (well it's 2 AM on the day he's coming over haha) so any info ASAP would be very much appreciated! i don't wanna screw it up.

bleach it first, then dye it. it won't show up otherwise! well, you might be able to see it a little bit, in the right lighting, but those aren't the results you want, are they?

If it's not too late maybe you can opt for the blue spray. You know the kind used mostly at Halloween. I've always used those as a temporary color treatment :-D Hope this helps!

if you are a newby and he has such short hair your best best is one of those kits for bleaching hair that comes with a cap with holes in it. bleach out the bits you want blue and than go over it will a deposit only blue color.

You'll probably have to bleach sections of the hair before you put the blue on.

I know a guy who just dyed his hair pink actually! There must be a new bright coloured hair trend no ones told me about

oh also another option is those color FX dyes in the drug stores, idk how well the blue one works but they have bleach built in and are made for use on dark hair (my brothers hair is as close to black as you can get pretty much and he uses the red one and it works super well on him)

thank you all! okay so i just go and get the bleach, and then i bleach out the bits i want colored? and then does he wash it out, wait for it to dry, and then i go over it with the colored dye?

Maddy, if you haven't done his hair yet, semi's usually work better on slightly damp hair.
