Is there a hair care line that actually cares how your skin looks, too. Does one have to choose between having a clear complexion and having well conditioned, well styled hair? My face and scalp skin break out from styling products, conditioners and even some shampoos. I finally gave up and have been using home-made hair cleaning solution (baking soda & water recipe found on Bhuddist website). I also improved my diet (cut down on sweets & dairy). I also stopped using foundation and use Avon Porefection cleanser & toner, and stopped using fabric softener on my pillowcase. (For a while I used Benzoyl Peroxide at night and Salicylic Acid in the morning, but don't seem to need that any more.) My scalp and skin problems ended, but I would like to style my hair better. Also, since I made so many changes, I'm not sure which ones are critical of if they were all necessary to end my acne. What do MuT members know that I don't? :rotfl:

Usually products by Philosophy can be used on hair and skin and not cause problems. If you want to use products like hairspray, just be sure to shield your face as you spray, and try to stay away from using them at the hairline or on bangs that are touching your forehead. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

now that your skin is under control i would introduce new products one at a time, to make sure you don't have a reaction that takes you backward. the only product i've ever heard of that can be used on hair and skin (even though they are the same composition) is castile soap, but it was quite drying for both my hair and skin. let us know what you find! sounds very interesting!

Have you visited Paula's Choice website and looked at what she has to say? You're prob allergic to one or more ingredients. Isolate it and you'll be able to find OK products.

Thanks everyone for all your replies. I think I will try Philosophy. I also read Paula Begoun and that helped me too, although I don't agree with her 100%. (Avon's True Pore-fection toner which I really like has alcohol which she says shouldn't be used.) As for foundations, I think it's the sunscreen in them that my skin reacts to, because up until about 2000 I didn't have any problem wearing foundation and that seems to be about when all of them started including suncreeen ingredients. Thanks.
