I'm interested in getting a perm sometime over summer probably.

I'm also a bit tired of the color it is now.. I dyed it in sometime in early January. Would it really damage my hair a ton if I had it dyed (something closer, like a dark brown, along my natural hair color) and had it permed a month later? or would it be way too much?

My hair is always really healthy, I never blow dry it, I just use the flat iron once a day. It's never dried out very much from that stuff.

Any recommendations on what I should do?

I love my hair, so I don't want to destory it!

That is plenty of time. It is normally recommended that you wait at least 10 days and one shampoo between chemical processes. Good luck!

And dont forget, normally a perm with make your hair a shade or two lighter.

if you want it died only use a demi color...

other wise you risk over processing your hair and it breaking off

If you do not want your color to lighten up after the perm, then do not color it before the perm. You can color it right after a perm if you use a non-ammonia, deposit only color. Like a demi-permanent hair color line. Redken Shades E Q is my favorite. Also, this does not damage your hair at all. It will most likely make it shinier, healthier, and add condition to the hair.

That is great advice I should look into hair color like that for my curly hair. I avoid doing any highlights or dying it because the dye makes my dry hair even drier...

I dont know what kind of hair you have already, and I do know we always want what we don't have. Perms are just as chemical and risky as a relaxer, if someone does it wrong, you could end up with a disaster. I also want to tell you, that curly hair, in my opinion, takes so much effort and time.

Everybody thinks my hair is soo cool and all that, but it takes me a lot of dedicated styling, detangling, specific hair products. And I can only wear it like 3 different ways, and not much else I can do with it, its a frizzball otherwise. IF you have straight or wavy hair I advise you please just keep it like that, and on the occasionaly day where you want some curls, just use a curling iron.

Just my two cents, cause I am so fed up with my curls lol, they are just a lot of work, and no matter how many compliments I get on them, they are a constant worry, especially if your hair is long...
