Just got back from the hair dressers... she told me that oil treatments dont work, they just coat your hair and dont let any help into the hair. Is that true?

I do Olive oil treatments very regularly, and I have found that it makes me hair shiny and more healthy. I have been doing this for years and I definitely see a difference in the general health of my hair after I started using olive oil.

I use olive oil - & I see a difference. You're not going to get 100% penetration... which is why you have to do it more than once in your lifetime - but yes, it helps. The stuff you buy in the store might have other additives, but if you use 100% virgin olive oil that you can buy at the supermarket & heat up... it's great! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Why do hairdressers say things like that? Products that coat the hair actually protect the hair, like heat protectants and oil treatments. IMO if something coats your hair AND damages it in some way, many women would stop using it. I know I would. Plus, you can go to a salon and pay them to give u a hot oil treatment and they don't say, "Oh no, I can't give u that b/c its not going to work"! Hairdressers can be so negative. Just my opinion.
