So I was watching America's Next Top Model reruns w/ my 9 yr old cousin all day. And I really love Nik Pace's hair color! She's so pretty. And I know I'm not as exotic looking as her, but I would really love my hair to be that color. It's like a really light brown with a hint of dark blonde.

Anyway, I've always had dark hair, last week I had this lady dye it, but it turned out more reddish brown (still too dark) and I wanted light brown, it's my fault, I should have told her ahead of time.

I probably won't go get it done for a couple months so I can have it throughout the summer, but would it work on my dark hair? I don't have a problem going to a salon, I really don't plan on doing it myself.

I guess what I'm asking is if they could get it the exact color I want since my hair is dark brown.

Here are some pics of her (she's so gorgeous) and a pic of my hair now.

Actually my avatar shows what I think my hair looks like now, but some days it'll look lighter, like the attatchments.

Aww thank you! I was really nervous when I went to do it the other week cause it might shock me being so light (which is what I wanted). That wasn't the case cause it's still super dark

i think you could total pull it off.

ps. your hair is like a medium brown they should be ablet o get it light enough with bleach in one sitting, they will than just tone it to make it less orangey

i think that color would look great on you and i know they can get your hair that color. check out nic's roots in the first pic! they look pretty dark to me...

I have some friends that go to beauty schools here in town. Would it be too risky to go to them @ their salon/school? I know their teachers watch them so they don't mess up.

I just don't want to pay so much if I'm not sure what I want w/ my hair.

the teachers dont watch them so much that thye dont mess up...

i am currently a cosmotology student also.

basicly they do what you ask you still have to pay, but you are most likely going to have to sign a waiver that if you get injured or it goes bad you wont sue. the teachers are there incase things go bad they can get there before things go terribly bad.

i think it would be fine just make sure they dont use anything more than 30 volume bleach cause that can get out of controll really fast. and also realize that while they should know what they are doing they may not be willing to bring you that light since it is a student center.

lastly make sure your friend goes to a reputable beauty school.

idk many but here are some i do know...

-aveda institute (cream of the crop)

-cartsen (also aveda run just bellow aveda)

-Libs (this is a very well known beauty school at least in my state they most likely have an equivilent.. this is like the public school of beauty schools. they know what they are doing but they focus more on state board than current practices)

-lastly there are most likely many others that are not chains in which case i sugest you talk to your friend about the school and the enviroment she works in.

make sure her school has an actual working floor/saloon area.

and remember you will be asked to rate your friend after the fact and at some places they request that you tip.

THanks orange crayon. I did ask one of the girls and she said they do guide them a little, but IDK if they would or not. I'll probably end up going to Regis salon. It's in our mall, and the girls there have nice hair so it'll probably be a safe bet. I will probably take it from there and see where else to do it afterwards.

Thanks Patricia. I'm nervous about how shocked people I know will be. Can't wait.

It will look good dont worry. I love this color and have seen it look good on many different people. It would probably take longer to bleach, but it'll work. Just make sure you go to someone who you can trust.

good choice in going to a salooon cause if they mess it up or you are not happy eith it they will most likely fix it for free

I think you can pull off a light brown shade...

I was searching right now for what would look best against your skintone because anything blonde on you I believe will make you looked washed out, IMO...unless it's a honey-blonde color.

And the cut is nice too.

And here is more of that honey-blonde color:

Just be specific with what you want and don't want to the stylist or else they'll do whatever the hell they want. Trust me.

I would love to know what lip color that is! I think you would look stunning with that hair color! =)

Glad someone liked it

Oh, wow, she looks really pretty! I really love the hair in the 2nd pic.

I think I'll go in in the next 3 weeks. I usually tan outside in the early summer a few times and it stays for the whole summer, so I hope it'll help w/ the washed out dilemma. That's what I'm afraid of too. I'm a really really light brown tone, I look a lot paler in my pics. My profile pic is pretty accurate.
