Hey, so basically my hair is pretty curly, but it does't go how I'd like it to, I scrunch it to try and make the curls look nicer but they don't look very nice, I want them to look like pretty ringlets, any tips anyone? I know you can do it with hair straighteners, but the reason I'm having my hair naturally curly is because I can't straighten it often, so I can't use straighteners to make it like ringlets either

thanks! x

I seem to have stopped doing mine curly now because of the whole you can't brush it thing and it gets knotty after a day but I got lots of compliments when I did it the other week. What I do is to use lots of conditioner (tresemme works well) and to leave it in for a few mins, brush it, then wash most out but leave in a little bit. Then scrunch it a bit with the towel to stop it being dripping wet and then scrunch some extra strong superdrug moose into my hair when its wet. Then I leave it to dry... but scrunch it every so often, but not too much because touching it causes frizz.

It works well for me, hope it does for you ! I used to do it all the time when I was younger and my hair was so healthy it wouldn't be knotty even without brushing it, unfortunately its now been damaged by hair straighters

Well, my hair is very curly and I use natural products by anita grant

On her website she has a Free Tips & Tricks page where she mentions the following

Quote:
Suggestions:1. To prevent snagging, breakage and/or frizz use a wide tooth comb or Afro pick and apply a light all natural leave in like our Whipped Butter.

If you need to use a brush make sure that it has a wide area & less teeth. The Goody Ouch less Brush is brilliant for brushing (in my humble opinion). This will enable the natural oil secretion (sebum) to be evenly distributed from root to tip & the curl remains intact.

2. After shampooing - to build volume.

Don't wrap your hair like Cleopatra as this will interfere with the bouncy curly coily pattern not to mention

contribute to less volume & more frizz. Instead, gently squeeze the excess water from the curls.

If you can, try and get a microfiber towel or one of those Car drying towels (yup that's what I said) they are great for curly, coily, wavy hair.

While curls are wet, use a gentle natural leave-in butter (our Whipped Butter or Creamy Café Latte are perfect) to lock in the moisture.

Comb through in sections from the bottom up, don't tug or pull as this will lead to breakage & split ends.

Also, Deep Condition your hair at least once a month with our mineral rich Rhassoul Deep Condishes as they strengthen & fortify tresses as well as detoxifying your scalp. Suitable for all hair types.

3. How you dry your hair is a personal choice.

I always opt for air drying - especially in the summer - I don't really mind the shrinkage.

However you mentioned that shrinkage is a cause of concern for you. So if you use a hair dryer, please use a diffuser to:

a) Keep the air from blowing the curls everywhere

B) Drying your scalp

c) Limit the frizz factor

Diffuse when your curls are 3 quarters of the way air dry & try not to touch your hair as it dries this may contribute to the frizz factor. For more volume dry diffuse upside down.

I used the Rhassoul Deep Condishes and my hair showed me the love I've been looking for

It's like an all natural mud for the hair - I only did it once and I even had a my friends wondering what I had done with my hair.

The shine & bounce - amazing...

I will try the Creamy Latte stuff later but the Whipped Butter is next on my list.. her samples are only 99p so I may opt for that before I spend anymore money..

Hope this helps

Great tips Jane! Thanks for sharing! I personally don't have any better advice, as my hair has more wave than curl (actually, I straightened it again, so now it has NO curl). Have you tried using a curling shampoo, like CurlySexyHair? That might help to some degree. The only other thing I could think of would be using a curling iron to spiral the curls, or even finding a spiraling iron.

i have curly hair too! u may want to try using Body SHop's styling mousse for curly hair? i think it's great...defines curls and makes it shiny! i remember reading somewhere that curly hair looks great when it's shiny! so yea!
