My mom colors her own hair and it always looks good. Well,i had mentioned to her that i had wanted some highlights for summer, and she offered to do them so i wouldnt have to shell out $150+ for them at the salon.

She did foils for me, but today when i blew my hair dry i noticed that the highlights are patchy and not in a thin line just like regular highlights should be. Like at the top youll see blonde, then in the middle theres no color except my med brown natural, and at the bottom theres blonde again.

I do have a medium brown hair dye box from the drugstore that i use on occasion. Can i use that to dye my hair today? I really cannot afford to get it done at the salon. Im thinking that even if the highlights are a little darker, even if its still patchy it might be better and less noticeable. Any thoughts?

hmm.. i'd probably wait at least a week before dying again. especially if you've done blonde highlights, the lightening chemicals are a lot stronger and they would probably react with the other dye.

Your highlights will be lighter, but it would probably look better than what you currently have going on. Like Lucy already suggested, give your hair a break then colour over.

Blah I'm sorry to hear that your highlights have turned out to be patchy. I never have great luck with highlights, I once ended up with 1 inch wide highlights which were horrific. But if you plan on dying them brown, the result should be def better than what you have now, but I would give time for you hair to recover from the chemicals first.
