hi girls,

i hope u can help me here,

i have a natural brown hair. few month ago i bleached my hair and got a beutiful blonde color. unfortunately , it burned my hair, i did cut my hair , yeah,,, lost my pretty long hair, but i still got a brassy hair, i've did everything i could, got some protein reconstruction form sally , and changed my shampoo to john frieda for blonde damaged hair, but still not working. i had silky straight sexy hair shampoo and conditioner before, but despite all of the good feedbacks, they didn't work for me, do u guys have any suggestion on the brand for shampoo and conditioner and any protein treatments , i'm totally clueless!

By the sounds of it your hair needs protein, if its dry and like straw. What i would recommend are;

lots of deep conditionings,

use coconut oil overnight on your hair.

no heat whatsoever, just air dry

put coconut oil or jojoba oil on your hair when its damp to protect it

do daily conditioner washes, and just use shampoo once a week

do not brush when wet, just use a wide toothed comb

take a good multi vitamin a day to get your hair in tip top condition

maybe try a cassia or neutral henna on your hair, this wont dye it but will condition it or you could even put a henna dye over the bleach to cover it, just try one as near to your natural colour as possible.

I can't think of much more but hope this all helps and you get your hair back to healthy. We all do silly things which we regret, dont beat yourself up over it, its hair and it grows.

I'd go see a hair stylist and ask their opinion (maybe one will chime in on here)... perhaps you could even call a salon and see what they have to say. Could be a really great treatment out there, hope you find it!

I ALWAYS use Loma's Pearatin Hair Serum because it's magic in a bottle. After I shower I put it on my damp hair and blow dry. It'll leave your hair silky and shiny. Even if you've got damaged hair, you'd never know because it works so good. It costs about $16 but it lasts a long time. I love it and recommend it to everyone.

You need something stronger and more reliable than what Sally's has or what John Frieda has. When it comes to reconstructing and conditioning...you need professional. I would start with a protein treatment. Redken has a line called Extreme. This haircare line has a treatment called Deep Fuel. Deep Fuel comes in a box with five individual tubes inside. This will help restore your distressed hair. It will basically make it stronger and more manageable. This treatment last up to 8 shampoos, so you will need to do this treatment about once a week. I would also try the Extreme Shampoo for the time being. If you use this shampoo for about a month, your hair should become up to 4 times stronger. For conditioning, I would try All Soft Conditioner. Getting your hair back to how it should feel takes time and money unfortunately. Right now you need to focus on making it stronger and then worry about the brassiness. But definitely keep getting trims every 6 weeks!

I'm in the exact same spot as you.......my beautiful long hair has been damaged due to over bleaching. I just puchased the Joico K-Pak Reconstructor for damaged hair, its a protein treatment that I know alot of ladies highly recommend. I've also been putting Olive Oil on the ends of my hair and letting it sit for a while, then I rinse my hair and use Got2Be in Therapy Conditioner.

It's only been 1 week, but my hair is not getting any worse. I'll let you know if I come across any miracle product, or if I find a better conditioner.

PS- My hair was naturally brown, the bleach did so much damage, it's literally snapping off!! YIKES! I hope yours isn't as damaged.

I use the shampoo, conditioner, and anti snap.

my recs:

aphogee protein treatment (PITA to use, but effective)

follow up with a good, SILICONE-FREE DT conditioner

before doing these treatments, though, use a clarifying shampoo (i'd rec. kenra - silver bottle, b/c it is sulfate-free, VERY gentle for a clarifying shampoo)

do not use a blow dryer or any heat appliances until your hair recovers.

keep up with regular trims.

start reading ingredients on the hair products you buy, & don't use anything with silicone oil in it - you don't want to seal your hair off from getting moisture.

some silicones you'll see in products:

any word ending in 'cone

some that do NOT end in 'cone, but are still silicone oil:

cyclopentasiloxane

trideceth-12

centrimonium chloride

dimethiconol (close to the "end in 'cone" word, but not quite)

hydroxypropyl polysiloxane

lauryl methicone copolyol (ok, so the middle word ends in 'cone)

I've also found that conditioners with Hemp in them do WONDERS for chemically damaged hair.

As for getting your natural color back, use semi-permanents until it's healthy enough for regular dyes.

I would lay off any heat tools. Use deep conditioning products. For the time being I would use a protein reconstructor weekly-- I like Nexxus Emergencee. Try conditioner only washing as well- this technique keeps my hair moisturized and looking really nice!
