I have been flat ironing my hair since I got the bob cut where it gets longer as it goes around the front. Well when I went and had it done my stylist flat ironed my hair and it looked Smooth. When I do it at home my ends looked almost frizzy looking. They stick out and look dry?? I'm not really sure how to explain it any better. This is what I do.... Wash in Biolage hydrating or redken color xtend, then condition, towel dry, add Redken anti snap, add Redken align mixed with Chi Silk Infusion, Blow dry, use Redken Spray Starch, flat iron, spray with Biolage smooth and shine milk, then Last spray with Biolage finishing spritz. This is all the same thing my stylist does to it also. She uses a Paul Mitchell 1in. Flat iron and I use a Jilbere deparis Tourmaline series 1in flat iron. Please let me know what I can do to keep the ends from looking so bad!! Thanks for any advice or help you can offer.

Maybe call your stylist and ask what she did? Also, maybe you have gotten some breakage since you've gotten your haircut?

I forgot to add that I have thick wavy hair. I just got it hilighted as well. She just gets it so smooth. I'm wondering if it isn't the flat iron that she uses, but I've heard Jilbere is good! I really want a Chi though.

If you are using exactly the same products then maybe it is the iron. Maybe you can find out what brand she uses.

has to be the iron. I would get a new one, the wrong iron can do more damage than its worth.

She uses Paul mitchell 1 in. I'm not sure where I can get one other than Ebay though. Would any salons carry them?

Just wanted to update: I went to the salon today and I found out that she doesn't use a Paul Mitchelle Flat iron, she uses a Pink CHI!! I spoke to her about it and she is going to order one for me at cost. So I'll be getting it for $100. after taxes, is this a good price?

I just wanted to tell you, when you flat iron, pull a fine tooth comb in front of the iron as you pull it through.

So, take your section of hair postion the iron and then a comb directly in from of the iron so the iron kinda chases the comb. Make sure you go all the way down the strand like that and your ends will be pin straight. Following all the down is important for a very sleek look.

Do not have the iron too hot or you will fry the ends- that could be what you are seeing.

Always use a heat protectant.

Always.

Oh yeah, you may have TOO much product in your hair or might be using something too wet after ironing, with makes the hair revert.

$100 is a resonable price. Also, I use a cuticle sealer on the ends of my hair, before and sometimes after straightening, and it seems to do the well. If you really want that smooth look, try a leave in conditioner before and after (although it may make the hair go wavy again) or Garnier Sleek and Shine Serum (it's good but it can leave your hair looking a bit oily)!

This time I used the chi flat iron, redken anti snap, redken align, and chi silk infusion. The ends are better now. I still had to work a little harder on them but they're ok. My flat iron only has a on/off switch it doesn't have a temp. control on it. I am going to try using the comb in front of the iron next time. Duke. bailey: what kind of cuticle sealer do you use? I don't guess i've ever had any.

The cuticle sealer I use is called "The Ends", made by PPS, which is an Aussie brand so it might be difficult to get in the US, but try some Aussie beauty websites or things like that, they might sell it. Or you can try other brands, chances are some other brands available in the US will have an equivilant or perhaps one with a similar formular! Good luck! XxX

I have that exact same style cut, I love it. I use head and shoulders (no dandruff problems - it just seems to really help my hair, and I flat iron a lot!) I then, when my hair is damp, put through 'It's a 10' It's a multi tasking serum, repairs, and protects. Then when my hair is dry I work through "Kenra Hot tool Protector"... it is amazing and you need barely any at all! My hair looks just like it did when I left the Salon! You hair will go stiff when you flat iron it, (you don't need much heat) but then just mess it with your fingers and it turns silky smooth. I then finish with Johnathan's Silky Dirt or Kiwi Colour Reflector.

well I went today and bought me some Chi 44 Iron Guard to protect my hair against the damage. It seems to work very well.
