I also find that weird, because like I said I was on my phone a couple hours before I got the notif when almost everything was already sold out at the time. Maybe their app is in a need of an update?According to their facebook it looks like some people got the memo of the stylish surprise hours before the official launch, hence why they didn't post it on facebook or send out an email, they said it was through the mobile app. I find that odd because my friend who uses the app didn't get the notification until hours after we placed our orders. Neither one of us would have known if I hadn't seen this thread get bumped and punched her in excitement in the middle of bankruptcy class bahahah.
I'm happy I got something, but I hope they make it a bit more "fair" next time, because even though I didn't plan to spend that much to begin with, I definitely would have gotten an accessory and apartment thing if I could have!
Maybe so.. Either way, thankfully a lot of dedicated fans made it known that they weren't happy with the way it was handled this time. I have faith that Modcloth will handle things better next time.I also find that weird, because like I said I was on my phone a couple hours before I got the notif when almost everything was already sold out at the time. Another reason could be because Modcloth has a perk program of sorts for select customers that started just in the last few months. I know because for some reason I am on their "perk" or preferred customers list. At the start of the month I get an email sometimes with a special coupon code for 15% off sale items or early access to upcoming sales and new vintage items added to the store.Maybe so.. Though, I think this go round is a testament to how popular their stylish surprises have gotten. Back when they first started in like 2013, it used to last a couple of days. I could see the next one being a lot more "cut throat" (for lack of a better word) bahahaha.
Wow! I didn't know anything about this preferred customer thing! That's great for you, but I wish there was some more transparency on their end, they didn't mention anything about THAT at all on their facebook, but I'm willing to bet that was a huge reason some people knew early.Another reason could be because Modcloth has a perk program of sorts for select customers that started just in the last few months. Are y'all talking about eastern time? I can't remember exactly when @@danipeach posted here (sooo glad I was subbed to this thread with immediate replies) but I went and checked my first order confirmation and it was 11.30ET.. So either modcloth sent out the emails to preferred customers in waves or there's another group of people who got tipped off even earlier. My friend is also on this list and she got the email at 12:30. She saw it at 12:38 and they were already out of accessories and quite a few shoe sizes, I think she said . So, things did go pretty fast it seems or they really just had super low inventory of a lot of stuff. (I was still able to get dresses at 3:30, but that was all that was left and only sizes xs,s,3x &4x were available).
This was my thought exactly. Are y'all talking about eastern time? ETA: and I had requested modcloth email me if the stylish surprise came back in stock in my size with their little "oh no, out of stock! Email you when it's back?" feature and I never got a single email.
I can't remember who it was, but there was someone here or in the enablers thread who said she used to work for modcloth and that employees weren't allowed to purchase the stylish surprises. But yeah, it was probably just someone who was stalking the site, got lucky, and spread the news. This was my thought exactly.
I was also curious if employees got early access to the sale? At Old Navy we always got early access to their $1 flip flops and $3 tank sales, maybe black friday too but i don't remember, but its not like we bought enough to deplete the entire stock.
However, I think its more plausible that someone who was on the preferred list just happened to stalk the site daily and saw them pop up (because you could type in stylish surprise in to the search and find them) and then it just spread like wild fire. If I knew in advance that they were coming I would've done this like every day ahhaha.
A lot of companies have strict policies on buying stuff like that, so that doesn't surprise me. My fiance works for verizon and employee accounts aren't allowed to get the new iphone release for like 3 month or so (might be longer i can't remember), so I'm glad modcloth does too. Old Navy always has a ridiculous amount of stock so I figure that's why its never really a problem there bahahha. They probably get an amazing discount though I bet.I can't remember who it was, but there was someone here or in the enablers thread who said she used to work for modcloth and that employees weren't allowed to purchase the stylish surprises. I swear I learn new things about company policies every day lol, I was honestly shocked at how many tiny rules you'd never really realise mattered actually existed in industry when I started working for a company that's part of EPM. Oh man, if I worked at modcloth I wouldn't have a paycheck, it'd be going right back to them lmao. If I didn't hate people ( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />) I would totally have tried to get a job at one of the stores I love just for the employee discount /shamelessA lot of companies have strict policies on buying stuff like that, so that doesn't surprise me. I'm too poor for dat, hence why I wait for the stylish surprise sales to get my fashion on ahhaha. Here's the nitty gritty on the loyalty program:
"Program Terms & Conditions: The select group of customers participating in ModCloth's pilot program
for loyal customers is determined on the basis of purchasing history and behavior"
Translation: I spend waaaay too much money and time on the ModCloth website.
I got some vegan combat boots last time (so in the March one), so I have a sneaking suspicion this will be a lot of spring/summer clothes for this SS, since the last one had a lot of sweaters, coats and boots and typical fall/winter wear (also there was a hideous santa sweater a ton of people got cursed with lmao).Me too! Should be here Thursday, I can't wait! 6.6 lbs for 3 shoes, 2 dresses and 3 apparel...I hope I get some awesome boots for fall!
still waiting! hopefully this means they're saving something good for me bahahahha.Got my shipping notice!
