I've been coloring my hair for a number of years now and started coloring my eye brows at the same time so that they matched... Does anyone else do this or is it just the engineer in me being kind of anal? Lol.

Lol, maybe it's slightly anal.

I think it depends on just how red your hair is. If it's just slightly red, more auburnish, then I think just a reddish brown eyebrow color should suffice.

If you're dying it really red, especially bright red, then I think it would look better if you dye your brows a little closer to your hair color.

Most importantly, just do what makes you happy and to hell with anyone who objects!

Last nights dye job ended up redded than I figured. More of a dark redish auburn.. No one has pointed and laughted at work today! Lol.

In my opinion this depends a lot on your hair color. If your hair is a semi natural color and carefully done then yes matching is nice. When I see people that have extreme colors like flaming red, platinum blonde or jet black without possessing the other qualities that normally come with those colors (skin tone, skin color, etc) it tends to stand out and look silly.

Well its not flaming red... I was talking to one of the girls in the office and told her how my hair was redder than I wanted and she said... "You did a good job...and it looks good... It matches your eye brows". Lol.

My aesthetician suggested not doing it - she said she loved blonde hair with darker brows (my hair is naturally dirty brown and brows are darker but I highlight my hair). I've had my brows lightened before, but the effect was disasterous and I don't think I'd ever do it again.

I think it really depends on the person and the color, like Dalylah said sometimes it can look funny and unnatural.

i have mousy to light brown hair and really really dark brown eyebrows. i think it would look weird if they matched. but i also have really fair friends who would have almost invisible brows and would look weird if they didn't match!

i never dyed my eyebrows to match my hair i never really dyed my hair a colour that wasnt similar to my eyebrows lol

I think it always looks best if the eyebrows are similar in shade to hair colour.

If you are going to all that trouble to maintain a nice hair colour - why not go the extra step.

It is easy to dye brows if they are too light.

And even easier to apply Jolene bleach to brows that are too dark - unless you want to have everyone think you are a bottle blond.

It really a great idea to color your eyebrows according to your hair color. For getting more idea you can go for different eye make up websites.

I think mine are too dark for my new hair, but my beauty therapist wouldn't lighten them, only darken. She did say that light hair with dark brows is fashionable, but I'd prefer something a little more natural...

Generally when you want your brows to be 2-3 shades lighter than the colour of your hair as it looks far more natural. You CAN lighten up brows to match your hair colour, but if it's lightened too much it can look silly. The only time I will lighten clients brows if they have gone blonde and have black brows, but you only need to lighten them to a nice medium brown, otherwise, it looks ridiculous!

My sister bleaches her hair blonde and she has light brown brows, recently she thought it would look better if she bleached her brows too...seriously, huge mistake! I had to end up tinting her brows for her back to her natural colour. Looks wayyy better.

I have a red base with bright red peek a boo's and I have dark brown eyebrows.....while at times I feel like it looks a bit funny, I think if i tinted my brows red i would look even funnier!

Honestly I do not think you should stress over the matter as much unless you go red

In my opinion, the eyebrows should be about 2 shades within the shade of the hair, but it does not have to be exact. Overall though, eyebrows look best to me being a bit darker than the hair.

I used to have black hair with DARK black eyebrows. I had it colored to an auburn brown but my eyebrows did not match! =/ so I colored them the same color and I LOVE it. Def. gotta match!
