I got a really cute hairband on sale, it's one of those ones that is similar to a hair elastic, only much, much bigger - it's about 4 strands of stretchy elastic, with a silver clamp/clip thing keeping the ends together.

The only problem is, it's marginally too big, and it's really irritating me that the hair isn't staying in place as well as I'd like.

Is there anyway to unclip the silver thing, shorten the strands, and put it back together?

I always seem to find that headbands don't fit me well, I think my head must be quite small (and my mother loves me for it,

I wish I could even wear those types of hairbands, my head's weirdly shaped. Thank goodness for the hair to cover it up lol!

hmm...

i don't think you could easily unclamp the silver thing. if you got it off, i don't think youd be able to get it back on tight enough without a machine! i have some suggestions:

- when you wear it, use kirby grips to clamp it to your head.

- or use kirby grips to shorten it: gather the excess elastic at the back of your head in two "bunches" on either side of the silver thing and pin kirby grips on either side in crosses to keep the bunches up. lol its really hard to explain, imagine a piece of string with a bump in it and two poles on either side of the bump to keep it up?

here's a diagram! LOL

____________{ / }____________

the / is a bump and the { are kirby grips, except irl you'd do it so they meet at the bottom in a V shape. sort of "squeezing" the excess elastic up.

-cut it and sew the ends back together as best you can. pretty hard with elastic and would mean that youd need to treat it quite carefully.

I'm not sure the clamp would be easily removed, you might just have to cut the elastic rather than unclamp.

What you could also try is sewing the elastics with a thin needle.
