Ive been on the look out for a mousse that will do what I need but so far no luck, maybe I am asking for too much?

I have long curly hair, the weight tends to drag down and flatten my roots, sometimes when I blowdry with a diffuser upside down this helps fluff the roots back up, but it works alot better if I use a mousse. But all the ones Ive used dont last and give me frizz...

Does anyone know of a mousse that will give good volume with a nice lasting hold, and if it helped control frizz thats a bonus. Open to all suggestions so far Ive only tried a couple L'oreal ones and not happy with them.

Thanks for any help

I just bought two new mousses-- one from Ulta and one from Wal-Mart. It's actually a

"moussing wax". Here's the link:

Graham Webb: News

And the Wal-Mart one was from Pantene:

Texturize! Moussing Foam Wax

I used the Graham Webb on Friday and I like it. I plan on trying the Pantene tomorrow. In addition, after drying, I use these two:

Texturize! Texture and Shine Defining Pomade - Texture and Shine Defining Pomade

and finish with this:

Texturize! Ultimate Texture Hairspray Ultra Hold, Aerosol Ultimate Texture Hairspray

I normally NEVER use Pantene because it absolutely WRECKS my hair-- drys it out terribly and it tangles. So, I was surprised how much I love the two Pantene products I currently use. Anxious to try the moussing wax by Pantene tomorrow.

I have naturally curly, short, stacked in the back color-treated hair. I just got my haircut a couple of weeks ago and it's my fave cut of my life! The color I put on my hair, however, could use some work : / Normally I use henna but I found a new Excellence color I thought might look good-- eeek! I am contemplating getting some of that hair mistake color lifter (new product and no idea what it's called-- I read about it somewhere) and starting all over. EDIT: I found the product: Developlus - Color Oops Color Oops! I am going to get some tomorrow if Walgreens has it in stock!

Hope this helps!

Warmly,

beaglette

I really like the mousse from pantene, the one for curly hair. It has decent hold, but never makes my hair crunchy (hate that). I have armpit lenth 3b/c curls that are color treated....HTH's

I use a Paul Mitchell mousse that has conditioners in it. Have you tried a root lift? It's similar to a mousse, but as your spraying it seems like an aerosol and then turns into a light foam. It's designed to give volume. It doesn't make my hair frizzy. Try one for dry hair.

Oh and there's a line at Sally's called "Noodle Head" IMO works really really awesome on curly hair.

Wow thanks for the extremely helpful replies everyone

!!!!

Thanks for all the help and I will be on the lookout for the products you girls mentioned.

Kaylin_marie the root lift product sounds really interesting, Ive never used anything like that but it sounds like something I should look into. Do you know of a good one?

Beaglette your post was really informative too. Mousse wax sounds interesting, probably would have a texture I like. Do let me know how you like the Pantene Texturizing Mousse.

Thanks for all the replies so far everyone, its really helped!!

I use Matrix Amplify

But I sell a lot of the one made by ION and "Power lift" by beyond the zone, you can find those 2 at Sally. They're really popular, I haven't tried them yet though!! They also have a generic version of the Matrix kind.

I use Dove mousse, light & full...

it's really good and doesn't leave my hair feeling crunchy

I use the Paul Mitchell mousse too, with the conditioners in it. I have curly hair that tends to frizz fast, and this mousse keeps it in control. Plus I love how soft it makes my hair, and the great coco-nutty smell it has!

i liked the mousse from pantene, but do not use too much, it was building up on my roots after a while >.<

Sounds good everyone thank you!! I think I will be stopping by the store tomorrow and will pick something out. Im going to check out all the brands & products you girls mentioned

I'd try Taft by Schwartzkopf, they have a big range of long-lasting and powerful products. Tried Lóreal but I always come out disappointed. Good luck!

Nick Chavez has a mousse that gets your hair so volumized, while still soft and moisturized, I think it's called caviar mousse. He was advertising it on QVC with demonstations, and he made me want to buy it.

When I wear my hair curly, I use a product from Redken called "guts". It is a mousse consistency, but it sprays out like a hair spray like snow. I love it. Nice hair and no crunch.

i use the Paul Mitchell moisturizing mousse too, definately love the smell

(Sally's has a generic version of it, it really smells and works exactly the same)

I have two products by Tresemme: Big Boost weightless lift root spray and Weightless Body extra hold mousse with 24-hr climate control/humidity resistance. Love them both and they're less than $4 each!

(It should be noted that I have fairly straight, fine hair. But I think they'd work well for most people?)
