I don't mean to be nosey, but I've been thinking about getting them lately and wondering whether I should go with the Great Lengths at a salon or buy some of the DIY at Sally's and try them out. If you had them done at a salon, how much did it cost? I want to go from about bra length to small of the back.

If you DIY, how difficult was it? TIA!

for the length you are trying to achieve it may be easier to get it done profesionaly, most extensions sold in sallys or other stores max at about 22 inches in length which for most people is somewhere between bra strap length and the middle of the back

I've never had it done but I do know someone who has and it looked awesome on her. If you wanted to try it out just for a party or specific event I'd probably get the cheap stuff, but if you wanted it as a permanent look, I'd go to a salon and get it done proffessionally

I do mine myself, and had them done at a salon but I only had around 30-50 to give me a streaky look, I have shoulder length hair with layers but last week i ordered 200 extensions and did a full head myself, its now to the small of my back and I've got in about 130. I found it to be quite easy to do it myself, Ive had alot of compliments and how natural and real it looks when i said its extensions.

It too just over 2 hours!

Its so much cheaper to do yourself. In shops here the cheapest is around 170-200 to get them done.

I paid 43.00 for the 200 extensions and only used half since i had some spare left from the time before.

I did mine all blonde each side at the top part of my head, then left a layer and did blonde and brown going all the way round my head, then another layer and then a final one just above my temples, I found it easier to part your hair in the middle all the way back and section it and did one side first.

Also cinderella hair is meant to be the best but expensive and the second best is remy which is the one Im using. If you feel comfy to DIY give it a go if not get them done at a salon and just watch how she applies them and try yourself next time

Thanks for the info everyone! I may just try it myself at first and see how things turn out. I'm looking to keep it long term, I don't really have that many special events to go to, so it's just for a new look right now... I will post pics if/when I do it

Wow, that's amazing! Did you find any info online about doing them yourself or did you just figure it out as you went? I'm clueless

i had mine done for free,,, but was told that each piece would have cost £4 each and it was glued in, it was racoon hair extensions and my head was really itchy and it pulled my real hair, i picked it off after!

i wonder how hard it is to wash hair with extensions?

doest it come out during washing?

I've had some done before at a salon but not a full head, just a few round the top to give me streaks, so just sectioned my hair and did it myself, I didnt know how I was going to do it exactly but just figured it out and do rows of them untill it looked full.I bought my stuff off ebay, A heated clamper and glued extensions.

mine are the clip in kind, and the costed me i believe 60 for the 22 inch, and then getting clips sewed on was 35 so 95 in all. i LOVE them! they look just like my hair color and they really help make your hair look sooo long and thinck especially when you style them for parties and stuff its so great!!!
