If part of the hair is protruding above the skin, gently pluck the culprit out and wipe the area with rubbing alcohol. If you can see the hair but it's still underneath the skin, try a warm compress to "coax" it to the surface. Never ever dig around to remove an ingrown hair.. I know it's tempting but it will definitely leave scars if you don't know what you're doing. I also recommend Neosporin or A&D ointment to keep the area as clean as possible. The moisture from these salves also helps by softening the skin above/around the ingrown hair, while also reducing inflammation. I hope you resolve your problem soon!!
