How to hold in curls?

Im buying some curling tongs as Id like to go for some nice curls for a day.

I wear extensions so my hairs going to be abit heavy and long, I was just wondering is there anything I can do to have the curls stay longer?

I used to have waist length hair and when i would curl it for an event it would drop out by the time I was seen. so it never lasts!

Any tips?

I find that if you pin the curls as you're curling them up, taking all the pins out when you're done and combing through the curls, they last a lot longer. When you pin them up they should almost look like pin curls. I usually use Kenra 25 hairspray.
