How can I make my dark hair blond?

So I have naturally darkish brown hair, and I have dyed it black a few times before and then a dark red. And now I'm bored with dark brown hair, black, hair and red hair and I'm wanting to try going a REALLY LIGHT BLOND, but I've heard so pretty scary stories about bleaching and what not.

So I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions? Like should I try naturally lightening my hair a bit before professional bleaching. Or is this a better choice?

A talented colorist can take dark brown hair and make it light blonde. I have a friend who gets her dark hair lightened and she had one colorist who didn't know what she was doing and turned her hair orange. Then she had another colorist who was able to make her platinum blond with very healthy looking hair.

I don't think naturally trying to lighten your hair will work. Go to a professional--one you trust and one whose work you have seen before.

dont go light blonde all at once, that will fry and damage your hair.

do it slowly by getting highlights.
