Ok girls, I need to vent and I need some sympathy

I usually go to the hairdressers to get my hair done, however I've been a bit strapped for cash lately so I decided to buy a couple of boxes of dye from coles (supermarket). Anyways, it was meant to turn out a nice chocky brown, instead I have JET BLACK hair!! OMG I look like a wannabe goth!!!

I feel crappy now..I know it's my own fault for playing around with my hair...but still

Make me feel better girls!!

Does it look that bad, or do you think it looks bad because you were expecting brown and it turned out black? Within a few washings, the color shouldn't be such a harsh black. Best of luck. If you don't like it, you can always shave your head like Britney! Just kidding.

I think perhaps because I am not used to having such dark hair it looks a lot darker to me than it would anyone else. Though I still think it looks black to me. Yeah I know it'll fade, but I needed to whinge lol

oh god lol Im not that crazy...Id rather have black hair than no hair at all!

If I must lol Excuse my make up less face

Here is a pic I just took on my webcam.

It looks nice!

I find the best way to get a new hair colour to grow on you really quickly, is to whack on some makeup!! Just think of all the new colour combos you can try now that your hair is a different colour.

Get some pink into those cheeks and you'll feel a million bucks!

it looks like you had really light hair before.....

so even though i think it looks really nice do not fret because it will fade super fast

and when it does fade it will be a brown with tons of highlights and stuff like that

I know the horror of pulling off that towel and going OMG, what have I done. Like the others said it will fade just as you are starting to get used to it (you may even gorw to like it) I think it looks pretty and with your blue eyes they really pop now. I agree, throw on some new colors of shadow and have fun with it. I bet if you fill in the brows a little too that will make a huge difference.

Naw, its not a disater-- happens to me all the time when I go dark. Don't worry- in a week or so it'll look better. For the first few days I tie my hair back because it looks awful, I know how you feel. Jut wait it out- will be ok!

The following comes form Paula Begoun, maybe it will help:

If hair is coloured too dark, and you want to remove the dye: mix a little dish detergent with regular shampoo. Wash well. Follow with a deep conditioner.

To remove hair colouring from hair, try Clairol Metalex Hair Conditioner 511.

It is not gentle, does not condition hair, and can cause further damage

I had read something like that before, but never tried it so I did not want to recommend it. That would be cool if it does work. I will have to try that next time.

Awww thanks girls

I think because I have such fair skin that it looks more shocking to me. I'm gonna go with greeneyedangel and keep it tied up til it starts fading. I'm gonna experiment with different coloured make up too...thanks girls

EDIT: I have heard of the dishwashing detergent thing, I did a bit of googling last night, apparently it will remove quite a bit of colour but after it's done there are a lot of red tones left in the hair. I also read that if you use an anti dandruff shampoo on dry hair, like head and shoulders, leave it in for awhile, then wash it out and it also apparently removes colour, though apparently also dries your hair out something shocking.

Just washit a fewtime,vo5 ithinkitscalled. Itwillfade.Ididmyhair darkbrown and it lookedblack initially.Itfades afterafewwashes.

try color opps or colorfix color removers ...... they get the black out without any damage

I washed it this morning, and already a bit of colour has come out when I washed it, I think within the next few weeks it should fade to a lighter brown. It just freaked me out when I took off the towel and my tresses were black! lol

I'm glad your color is starting to lighten up some. Hopefully it'll end up looking like you had hoped!

I honestly don't think it looks bad at all, though.

I think it looks really good! Once you get some makeup and get used to it, I am sure you will grow to love it!
