Home hair color question

I have a question about home hair color. Right now I dye my hair every 6-8 weeks (just the roots) with natural black permanent hair dye. I want to go lighter with a dark brown color. If I put the dark brown all over will it lighten my hair or will it just blend in? And how much damage will i be doing?

I'm not a hair expert but I thought if you dyed your hair black, to lighten it you had to strip it or wait for your hair to grow out and dye that. I know Gina will definitely give you the best advice

if your hair is black i dont think a dark brown color will show up imo

Ok #1 rule....colour doesnt lift colour. If you want to go lighter you will have to use a colour corrector, colour remover or bleach. Black is the toughest colour to remove.
