Holding Curls in place

When I curl my hair I usually wash, condition, blow dry straight and then whether its that day or the next I curl using my CHI. I am looking for a product I can put in my hair prior to blowdrying or even on dry hair just before I CHI to give me nice smooth curls and lock them in at the same time. I'm really not sure what to use.

Do any of you guys use this same technique and do you have any recommendations?

styling mousse ? i would apply some, then blowdry my hair, and use some hairspray to set everything.

I use a spray gel before I curl. I also hear that this product, Redken - spray starch 15 is really good.
