Highlights on Black hair?

Can anyone who has dark brown or black hair tell me how much they have paid for highlights recently. I got two quotes, one for $160, the other for $180. This seems extremely expensive to me because I got highlights before and it was $80 and my hair was several inches longer and all one length then. I understand that balck and dark brown hair is much more difficult to highlight due to the lifting or what not, but am I being overpriced for this service?

For a quality salon that sounds about right to me.

My hair is usually between shoulder and bra strap length and it's usually in the $120 area. For your length that wouldn't seem too far off.

You can also check craigslist. I have dark hair almost to my waist and the stylist quoted me at $80.00, that's including a haircut.

Ok so I got two more quotes. I decided to go to a supercuts just to see the prices, I was quoted $155.

Then I went to an upscale spa/salon that uses Aveda product and a lady with lots of experience gave me a price of $125. I'm pretty much settled with this lady. After getting all these quotes I kinda do feel like I was over quoted, because the more upscale salon, with the more quality products, and a master stylist is quoting me the cheapest price seems odd.

highlights run anything from 60 to 200....i went to the mall and got my highlights done for 175 plus and other 30 for a hair cut i really didnt care i liked the job they did on my hair but then i got bored and dyed it black then i want to say 3 weeks later i wanted my highlights again but i didnt want to pay 175 so i went to a salon it didnt look like a nice salon it was in the "hood" lol so i asked the lady she said 60 for highlights well for 60 i said yes got them done and loved them! i had more ppl asking me where i got them done at everyone seemed it love them! i would say keep looking and there is some ppl trying to make a lil extra money on craigslist that do a great job!

Yeah I agree back in MI I would see a lady that did hair out of her house and she would do it pretty good. Unfortuanately I don't know of any of those types of salons in this area. They gave really good prices.
