Highlighting hair for guys

I am a guy and i would like to dye my hair with some blonde highlights. I have dark hair. Any brand names that you know of that is good? I bought this blonde hair lightener but found out it was for blonde/lighter hair people so i dont want to buy another wrong product. ty.

There's numerous products out there. I'm not sure if any one brand it better than another on highlights, but you might want to try looking for something that's made for darker hair. Garnier is one of my favorite brands though when it comes to at home hair color. You might also want to check out a beauty supply store.

would it be a better idea if i went to those salons to do it instead? It cost like 10 dollars or so with garnier. How much would it cost to do it at a salon? Also, how long does it stay on for? I heard once u dye it, it will be like that for 3 months. thanks.

p.s... i just found out what i wanted to do was "tipping". Just making the front spiky hair in the front to look blonde. I read about the Feria for men platinum brand. Would it be a waste of money to go to the salon JUST to do the tipping since i just want the few spikes in my front hair to look like that?

For the first time you highlight or dye your hair, it is wise to get it done professionally. A good stylist will know which shade(s) of blond will look best for you. If the stylist uses permanent dye, the colour will stay in your hair until the hair grows out or is cut. You might want to discuss the difference between permanent and semi-permanent to find out which is best for you.

If you try "tipping" by your self and it doesn't turn out, you are going to have to get a professonal to "correct". So this is another reason to pay the extra money and get it done right the first time.

I would love to see pictures once you have gotten the tipping done.
