Ok hairstylists and hair junkies, I need help. I've had the same hairstyle for a long time (in my avatar at left), and I guess I LIKE it well enough, but I guess I've just been down lately and I'm sick of being, well--me. I've always had short-ish hair. Always wanted long hair but my hair is very thin, very fine, and I don't have a ton of it. It's pretty much always been blonde--I've never colored it other than high lights. I don't like to spend a bunch of time on it in the morning, and I'm not that great at it anyway.

I'm about at the point where I'm going to go in and tell my hairstylist to do what ever she wants--as long as it isn't a half inch long and purple, I don't care.

It seems like all the styles I really love, don't work well with my thin, fine hair. The style I have now was supposed to be like Lynette (Felicity Huffman) in Desperate Housewives. But again--she has thick, wonderful hair; I do not.

So I guess after this rant, I need some ideas for a new fun hairstyle, but not too crazy. I don't like styles (a'la Kate Gosselin) that look like two different styles--long in front, short in back, etc. I like the flippy thing but not ALL the time. I think I just get stuck in a rut and go for the same styles all the time and seem to like what I like and never think of anything different. I'm 41, and don't want to look like I'm trying to be 19, but I also don't want to seem like I'm 60.

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

If you want thicker hair - why don't you dye it? You can still dye it the same colour it is naturally - you just want more volume.

As well, your hair looks the same length - are you considering longer layers?

This will help give you more volume too.

What about a bob that is shorter and choppier at the back and longer in front - and try a side swept bang rather than a blunt bang.

Don't die or colour your hair.Because the products contain raw chemical substances that can damage your hair.Be as natural as it possible.

My advice would be to use a semi-permanent dye instead of permanent...because either way, you'll have to touch up eventually because of roots, and non-permanent colour is much better to your hair than permanent. I like Clairol's Natural Instincts, my hair feels even nicer and smoother after dying it than it did before, every time.
