I thought I had genital herpes after finding a small pimple-type lesion on my outer labia, and that was 3 weeks after I had learned that chances are high that my ex had cheated on me. I never knew for sure, but I freaked out and went to a free clinic. The clinic was nasty, so were the other people in the waiting room. The doc took one look at my lesion and said "yup, it´s herpes". I cried but she didn´t even bother to console me.
I called my mom, still crying in shock and she told me to go see another doctor, at a real practice. So I went and the doc there told me it´s a hair follicle infection, I had none of the symptoms a typical herpes outbreak would have, and lesion had gone away in 2 days.
That was 4 years ago and needless to say I haven´t gotten the same thing again. But man was I scared!!!!

UGH!I've had that happen (the bump) and freaked out, too!! I know that fear and the relief when you get the clear from a doctor- and I still the little buggers (from shaving- yeah, I shave that area
and about a day or so after shaving BAM! A bump shows up.)

A thing i like to mention: why so many women are now contaminated with HIV? A lot of them got HIV on a stable relationship - the guy was contaminated and didn't know or didn't care to tell and since "oh , it's been (put your slot of time here) so i don't think there's a problem about having sex without a condom" , the women get the disease. It's sad, specially because of the raise among married women, who trust the hubby;

never have had one, thank God! i've had 3 hiv tests(one before i was pregnant and one with each of my pregnancies), and syphilis test, they did it when i had a physical, i don't know what else they test for. they were just doing the normal test and asked if i would mind having that one, so i said no. i've been with the same person and only him for almost 8yrs so i wasn't too worried about it, but it doesn't hurt to know for sure.

I doubt it--it's not the kind of thing anyone wants to discuss. Would you Mari? Many times we have an STD and do not know it. Such as Herpes--you may have very few outbreaks and may not even know what they are---get to the doctor for a clean bill of health.

not here. I work in male dominated jobs and soon all the guys I work with are like my brother and you would not do anything like that with your brother!

Nope, I've been married 32 years and faithful the whole time. When I was single and making time, I was always very careful! We didn't have HIV then.

I havent had any, but I had to have tests done after my drink was spiked and there is no fear liking waiting to hear if you have HIV so i would never tempt fate and take my chances when it is so easy to protect yourself from it.
but in saying that, its so easy to catch something. my sister got genital warts from the guy she was with for 4 years. i was sooo pissed off with her because she told me that when she went on the pill and they decided to stop using condoms, she went to the doctor and got tested and everything was clear. which i thought was very mature of her. but she didnt ask him to get tested so it was kind of pointless really!
edit: oh and the doctor told her that these days genital warts are more common than thrush!
