Hair sunscreen = UV filters?

Hi all! I'm looking for a product to protect my hair and head from the sun. I see some products that contain UV filters will that do the job? These products are marketed as color protectors so I wasn't sure if they act as a sunscreen or just protect color from fading.

Product recs would be great too, drugstore if possible but I'm willing to spend more if I have to. Thanks!

man i wish i had known that earlier hair ego,

i was at ulta today but i didnt really look at the nioxin stuff because the name for some reason always reminds me of the perscription dandruff shampoo my mom gets (i think that is called nizoral which is kinda close but nore really so that could be why)

as for your question, i would go with hairego's suggestion if you want something for every day. However if you just need something for like once a week if you go to the beach where you dont care how your hair looks than sunscrean should work fine.
