I need some help, I have pin straight hair, and get tired of wearing it up when I'm at work. I work early in the morning and want to be able to sleep in, and just wash and go. So i'm thinking about having it permed but have no idea what to ask for when I go in. I want more of a loose, wave type curl, not the normal looking perm curl. I want it to look something like Jennifer Nettles Any suggestions?

A perm is a big commitment...

If you are set on getting a perm make sure they use the largest rollers to achieve the wavey look...I hope you realize though that a perm still takes some work and maintenance!

My sister has pin straight hair and she had her hair permed. She asked for the wavy look and they gave her a more curly look than wavy. She liked it for the first month but after her roots started growing out she was not impressed. Her hair was so frizzy. She had a tough time trying to figure out what styling products to put in her hair, because she was used to her hair being straight. She totally regrets the perm. She had to have her hair chemically straightened to get it back to her normal hair. So much damage.

Just be careful and understand what your committing to.

Straight haired girls always want to have curly hair and curly haired girls always want straight hair.

Post pics if you take the plunge. I'd love to see how it turns out!

Lucky for what you have, most people I know or see in salons spend a lot of money just to a have a rebonded very straight hair.

I loved my hair back when it was permed. But once the roots started to grow out it I hated it. I also have pin straight hair, so it was flat at the top with body in the rest of it, and that took so much work just to figure out how to make it look half decent that way. But if you really want one I'd say ask for more of a body wave/perm (they'll know what you're talking about), just to give it that oomph!
