So first of all I'm biracial with African American hair.My hair has been a pain in the but since I was younger. In high school I straightened my hair every day and now I only straigthen once every week or two weeks after washing it. Anyway I'm getting sick of having to straigthen it for an hour and having it look like a grease ball in a few days. I wanna wear it natural but its kinda short and some of it is straigther than the rest of it and it poofs out on the sides. Should I just keep straigthening it or should I wear it natural and try to grow it out to the desired length? My hair looks like this but is poofy on the sides and I dont have bangs.

I'm not sure if you want your sides to be less poufy.

Have you thought about having layers cut into the sides, but from underneath. This will help removes some bulk but still give the illusion of one-length hair - especially if you want to grow it out a bit.

I think all the straightening will damage your hair especially cos it's kind of curly to start with so maybe if you like it when it's natural then just leave it like that.

Oh god if you have that curl stop straightening that hair! That is such a gorgeous curl! I know the frustrations of not having the same hair type all over though. I'm curly on top/front and barely curly underneath/in the back.

Have you tried messing around with different products and/or styling techniques to get it to sit just right?
