while watching a tutorial, a question hit me. when it comes to makeup i have a good idea of what i consider as essentials, the kind of stuff you could find in every girl's bathroom or think every girl should own. but when it comes to hair, i find the answer more difficult.

so far, this is what i consider essentials :

styling accessories :

*bobby pins, life savior for any kind of updo or problematic piece of hair.

*scrunchies of all kinds, big and fancy or tiny, just to hold a ponytail or small braids.

*barrettes of all kinds, good alternative to scrunchies.

*(for long hair), chopsticks

classier than a pencil, and there's always some in the kitchen so if you want your long hair up in a second, that's the ultimate tool you want to use.

*claws, especially big ones to pull back your hair when applying something to your face.

tools :

*blowdryer. it must come with different accessories, with different speeds.

*combs. it must fit well in your hand. i use a wide tooth comb to detangle my hair, and a fine tooth comb the rest of the time. i use plastic ones, although i prefer those made in natural materials. BEST tool for detangling your hair.

*a big round brush to blowdry your hair

(if you're wondering why i'm not adding curling iron/flat iron, it's because my hair's combo so i don't want to suck out the little moisture my lengths get, and i'm also terribly clumsy so i prefer avoiding any hot tools).

hair products :

*shampoo, adapted to your hairtype. make sure it's gentle, apart from that, whatever works for you.

*conditioner, again adapted to your hairtype.

*hairspray. i love Elnett, but whatever works for you.

*hair sunscreen, will save you money. better be safe than with straw hair.

*deep conditioning treatment, shea butter, coconut oil, your favorite hair mask...whatever works for you. your hair will thank you for it.

*(for oily scalps/hair) green clay masks work great on hair too.

what do you think are hair essentials ?

That's a good list.

I use black elastic bands - the ones that don't rip out hair.

A unique two headed brush by Goody. The two brushes clamp together and I can put a lot of tension on my hair, to straighten it.

I use this everyday to straighten my bangs - a round brush still curls my hair under, which I don't care for.

I have a small spritz bottle to dampen hair and restyle.

And I could never go without serum - a frizzy haired girl's best friend.

AUDE, Awesome thread!

hemp conditioner

conditioner specifically for whatever my haircolor is atm
