Hair Color Help

My natural color is dark brown. I was dying it ultra light ash brown at one point I put honey blonde highlights over it. I currently have at least an inch of regrowth. I was wondering if it was possible to go close to my natural color and then go lighter again without it looking horrible or having to strip the color out before doing so.

You can recolor it... however the honey colored parts will always appear lighter and will fade quicker than the rest of it.
